This article covers a subject from aStar Wars: Visions story thatLucasfilm declared is set in an alternate history within a reimagined galaxy.

Asilver general was a component of theboard gameshogi. While aboard thelight freighterPoor Crow, the formerSith known asthe Ronin and the storyteller known asthe Traveler played several games of shogi in which the Traveler always began cheating after the first few turns, though the Ronin never commented on it. During one game, they cheated by sliding one of their silver generals into the board's promotion zone. The Ronin considered it to be an audacious maneuver, but he had been unable to see the Traveler do it.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

A silver general appeared in the2021 non-canon novelRonin: A Visions Novel, byEmma Mieko Candon.[1] In the real world, a silver general is a piece in theJapanese board gameshogi that can be moved one space in any direction except backward or horizontally. When moving into, within, or out of the promotion zone, silver generals can be promoted and have their movement replaced with that of a gold general, which can move in any direction except backward diagonally.[2]
