Scimitar Squadron was aNew Republic fighter group consisting ofRZ-1 A-wings. During the time of theYuuzhan Vong invasion the unit was led byColonelIjix Harona. After thevictory at Obroa-skai, the Scimitars were stationed at the Republic's forward base onKashyyyk. While engaged in training exercises withMajorJaina Solo'sTwin Suns Squadron, Harona and Solo received a distress call from theFar Thunder, a cruiser that had been left behind atObroa-skai. The two squadrons hypered to the so-called Library World to fend off Yuuzhan Vong forces long enough to allowFar Thunder's crew to be evacuated.

Later, Scimitar Squadron would participate inOperation Trinity atBilbringi and the rescue ofGalactic Alliance prisoners atSelvaris.
