Aregiment was a large groundinfantry unit. In theGrand Army of theGalactic Republic, eachcorps consisted of sixteen regiments of 2,304clone troopers led by their respectiveClone Commanders, with each divided into sixteencompanies.[2] A single Republic regiment was composed of fourbattalions, and furthermore, those battalions were made up of four companies.[3] During theFirst Battle of Geonosis,Yoda's regiment saved[4]SenatorPadmé Amidala and theJedi from thePetranaki Arena.[5] TheConfederacy of Independent Systems'sDroid Army also made use of regiments, and several regiments were part of theHissrich droid unit.[1]

In theStormtrooper Corps, a regiment consisted of fourbattalions, giving one a total of 3,200stormtroopers. Alegion consisted of fourImperial regiments.[6] According toRebelGeneralCrix Madine, Imperial regiments were known for their lockstep obedience.[7]Imperial Army troopers could be organized into a regiment.[8]
