Red Star Shipping Lines was a major shipping organization in theCore Worlds and theColonies, owning twelvesystems recognized as transit hubs.^[1] During the time of theGalactic Republic, Red Star, along withPulsar Supertanker,Quasar Cargo, andOroro Transportation were choking commerce by shutting outOuter Rim Territories-based competitors and refusing to share navigational data. TheTrade Federation, which began its existence as a Republic-chartered organization charged with dispute mediation, helped to curb these abuses of power.^[2] They were one of thevoting sponsors of theCorporate Sector Authority, investing in the venture in theyears after the formation of theCorporate Sector.^[1] They owned thefreighter designatedTransport A-175, which was hijacked by theAlliance to Restore the RepublicprivateerFar Orbit. The loss of a cargo ofpower cells and power system components cost the company about 35 millioncredits.^[3]
