R4-G9 served as the quick replacement for his olddroid companion.[3]

Kenobi and R4-G9
R4-G9 was taken to theplanetUtapau where Kenobi landed his interceptor in front ofPau City to converse with thePau'anPort AdministratorTion Medon about the location ofGeneralGrievous. A group ofUtai came to work on hisstarship as the conversation began. Medon stated that theKaleesh was situated onthe tenth level with thousands ofBattle droids ready for attack, and Kenobi would later tell R4-G9 to fly back to theVigilance to informCody, theClone Marshal Commander of the7th Sky Corps, which would later strike attack against Grievous and hisdroidarmy.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
InJuly2003,George Lucas decided to let subscribers of theStarWars.comHyperspace feature determine the look of a new astromech droid to appear in the upcoming finale to theStar Warsprequel trilogy, the2005 movieStar Wars: Episode IIIRevenge of the Sith. Fourcolor schemes were proposed, the first was a striped design, with a metallic gray blue pattern along a pewter dome. The second color scheme featured a metallic camouflage green eye and selected panels, aluminum panels, and a pewter dome. The third design had an embossed circuitry look with raised surface detail on a gunmetal gray head. The last design was very metallic, featuring copper panels on a bronze dome. Ultimately, the fourth color scheme was chosen,[6] and went on to appear inRevenge of the Sith.[3]
