Twin Koensayr R200 Ion Jet engines, rated at 250KTU, propelled theBTL Y-wing starfighter inrealspace. In anatmosphere, theseion fission engines worked in conjunction with recessedrepulsorlift generators to attain speeds of 1,000 kilometers per hour. Each engine featured a sophisticated sensor array housed in domes at the front of the nacelle.
The R200 Ion Jet engines worked in the midst of the KoensayrR300-H hyperdrive unit are housed in the midsection, which was simply a reinforced central spar extending from thecockpit. Attached to this spar was a thin cross-wing, which contained theThiodyne03-R cryogenic power cells and connected the craft to the sublight drives.
History[]
The R200 Ion Jet Engine served as the Y-wing's main propulsion system. Y-wings were the most common craft in theRebel Alliance, and R200 engines propelled these sturdy ships in theBattle of Yavin, during the assault on thefirst Death Star, as well as theBattle of Endor, during the Rebellion's destruction of thesecond Death Star.

A common component, these engines often wound up in scratch-built starfighters known as "uglies," such as theTYE-wing starfighter.
Behind the scenes[]
The R200 Ion Jet engines used in theoriginal trilogy were created with Apollo Saturn V rockets 1/144th scale capped with pantyhose containers.
