TheR1 security droid^[3] was a model ofsecurity droid was utilized by theNew Republic Correctional Corps which bore a resemblance to aR1-series astromech droid. At least two units of this droid were deployed to aNew Republic Correctional Transport, theBothan-5 where they were used to patrol the vessel until they were encountered by a crew ofmercenaries attempting torescue aTwi'lekprisoner namedQin. One of the mercenaries, aDevaronian namedBurg, attacked the droids severely damaging one before throwing it into the other, causing an explosion which destroyed both units.^[2]
