History[]
Jedi legend[]
WhenBaylan Skoll was ayoungling in theJedi Temple, his peers used to tell the story of the Pathway, much to Baylan's amusement who regarded it as “a mere fairytale".[2] According to the Younglings, the path was used bydyingPurrgil to reach the "graveyard world" ofPeridea, where they would go to die, their bodies gradually disintegrating and their bones added to the planet's ring.[3]
The legend of the Pathway was also known among theNightsisters ofDathomir, who believed Peridea to be the original home of their species, theDathomiri.[3]
Exploring the Pathway[]
Around9 ABY, the NightsisterMorgan Elsbeth hired Baylan'smercenary services to recover a sphericalstar map that held the details of the Pathway and had first been unearthed by the formerJediAhsoka Tano on the planetArcana. Ahsoka took the map toLothal so that her former apprentice, theMandalorianSabine Wren, could decipher it; however, Baylan's apprentice,Shin Hati, attacked and severely wounded Wren onLothal, managing to retrieve the map for Elsbeth and Baylan. Together, they discovered that the map was fully functional and that the Pathway indeed existed. Believing that Peridea was where her allyGrand AdmiralThrawn ended up after theLiberation of Lothal,[2] thanks to the purrgil that kidnapped hisStar Destroyer,[3] Elsbeth had hershipyards on the planetCorellia secretly refurbish and transport thehyperdrive cores ofImperial-class Star Destroyers andSuper Star Destroyers to Seatos, where they were integrated into a multi-drive extragalactic transport vessel, theEye of Sion.[2]
As soon as theEye was complete, Elsbeth had herforces begin the long process of deciphering the coordinates contained in the star map to translate them into a functional travel path for the ship to follow. By integrating the star map to areflex point constructed in thehenge of Seatos by a species from the faraway galaxy, Elsbeth'sStar Navigator Droids transmitted the details of the route directly to theEye. The process was however interrupted by Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano, who had discovered their location on Seatos by trackingtransport CT-O5's beacon. Baylan was however able to defeat Tano and coerce Wren to allow the process to be completed, in exchange for allowing her to reunite with her friendEzra Bridger on Peridea. Despite the delayed arrival of New Republic forces underGeneralHera Syndulla and their attempt to stop theEye before it departed, Elsbeth and her allies managed to jump to hyperspace, en route to their destination galaxy.[1]
A place of dreams and legends[]
After a long journey through theintergalactic void, theEye of Sion arrived to the distant galaxy, confirming the Pathway's existence and destination.[3]
