Plot summary[]
Two brothers[]
The episode opens with a wide landscape shot of two planets including a green and blue terrestrial world. Lightning rages above a settlement. Amalehuman youth namedSig Greebling recounts the story ofAnakin Skywalker's fall to thedark side, transformation into Darth Vader and him ruling theGalactic Empire alongsideEmperorPalpatine. Vader's own childrenLuke Skywalker andPrincessLeia defy him and lead theRebellion against the Empire. Sig also recounts theBattle of Endor, briefly gettingEwoks mixed up withWookiees. He then moves forward to the rise ofKylo Ren and the return of the Emperor. Sig also talks aboutRey Skywalker defeating the Emperor with the help of a "grumpy" Luke Skywalker and restoring peace tothe galaxy.
A humangirl with curly hair grumbles about Sig retelling theSkywalker saga multiple times. Sig offers to tell a story aboutGrand AdmiralThrawn orThe Book of Boba Fett during the next storytime. However, the other children are not interested. Shortly later, Sig's older brotherDev Greebling arrives on aspeeder bike and reminds his younger brother that they have to return to their work asnerf herders. Sig replies that he prefers being called a "nerf handler."
Dev tells Sig that there is a herd ofnerfs in the northern plateau and that FarmerScala wants them back in their pens before the nextion storm hits. The two brothers depart on their speeder bike for the northern plateau. When Dev asks how the nerf herd got so far away, Sig switches topic to his ambition of wanting to earn enoughcredits to leave their homeworld ofFennesa. Sig is reluctant to leave their homeworld since he regards Fernessa as home. When Dev suggests that Sig come up with his own stories, Dev says that he knows all the stories by heart. Dev reminds Sig that he keeps getting Ewoks and Wookiees mixed up, prompting Sig to say that the two species are both furry.
Sig's secret exposed[]
At the northern plateau, the brothers begin rounding up the nerfs. Sig spots a nerf namedLug string away from the group. Sig attempts to order the nerfs around with a big stick but the herd moves farther away. When Dev asks why he is using a big stick to control the herd, Sig replies that this is the traditional tool of nerf herders. Dev disagrees and uses his speeder bike to wrangle the herd. However, Lug is defiant and attempts to charge at him. Dev rides his speeder bike and jumps a hoop above Lug. Sig disagrees and remind Dev about Scala's instructions. Dev however prefers to take short cuts.
While riding his speeder bike, he misses a black structure. Dev's bike collides with the structure, causing him to catapult into the air. Sig usesthe Force to form several objects into a vegetable-like structure to cushion Dev's fall. Dev thinks this was awesome but Sig is upset with his older brother's recklessness. When Dev confronts Sig about hiding hisForce-sensitivity, Sig initially denies using the Force but admits that he has been concealing his powers for several years. Sig explains that he doesn't have the power tolift objects or doJedi mind tricks but that he instead uses the Force to build things.
When Dev says that he would display his powers if he were Force-sensitive, Sig says that he is shy and not the brave type. He says that the second when people know that you have extraordinary powers, they will expect extraordinary powers from him. Sig says he just wants to be ordinary. Dev tells his brother that he is not ordinary. Sig wishes the roles were reversed. Dev agrees but insists that Sig not hide his powers. Back in town, Sig tries to get Dev to reconsider leaving their homeworld.
Enter Yesi Scala[]
They soon find Farmer Scala and his daughterYesi Scala speaking with twoResistance pilots, a human and aSullustan. The pilots had caught Scala's daughter joyriding in the Sullustan'sX-wing starfighter. Yesi protests that she left the X-wing as she found it. However, the X-wing explodes, with its pieces including anastromech droid head being scattered. Scala convinces the pilots to let him discipline his daughter, which they reluctantly agree to. When Farmer Scala reminds Yesi that she will inherit the farm, Yesi insists on becoming a pilot. Scala reminds his daughter that her place is with the nerfs and him on Fennesa. Dev and Sig hear Yesi arguing with her father. Dev sympathizes with her plight.
When Yesi approaches the two Greebling brothers, Dev says he sympathizes with her desire to leave Fennessa. Sig tries to convince her to appreciate their homeworld of Fennesa, by telling her that there are worst worlds likeHoth. Yesi responds that she prefers to fight a hundredwampas rather than remain on Fennesa. Yesi says she wants to decide her own path rather than let other people decide her destiny. Sig says he can sympathize with her. Dev interrupts the conversation to invite her to watch theholo ofFigrin D'an and the Modal Nodes and opens hisholoprojector.
Feeling awkward around Yesi, whom he is attracted to, Sig retreats home. He finds hisGNK-series power droidServo banging around the living room and tells him to stop hitting the cupboard, where his toy models are stacked. After securing Servo, Sig comforts the droid, saying that they can take solace in both of them being outsiders. Through the window, they watch a crowd gathering as Dev and Yesi dance on top of a roof.
A fateful evening[]
Later that evening, Sig is walking with Dev and Servo as they lead the nerf Lug, who is drawing a cart. Dev tells his younger brother that he and Yesi are planning to save up enough money to travel offworld. He invites Dev to come and conquer the galaxy with him. Sig is fearful of change and doesn't want to leave their pastoral homeworld of Fennesa, saying her prefers predictability and safety. As an ion storm forms ahead, Lug panics and bolts, breaking free of the cart. Lug falls off the edge of a cliff but Sig pulls him to safety. In the process, Sig falls off the cliff and clings to a vine. Dev pulls him to safety but a panicked Servo knocks them over the cliff.
The two brothers and Servo fall down the cliff. The three find themselves in a forest. Taking the lead, Dev leads them but they are lost. They find anabandoned Jedi temple emblazoned with aJedi symbol on its door. Dev wants to explore the temple, hoping to acquire akyber crystal that would allow them to go offworld. When Sig expresses reluctance, Dev tells his younger brother that he believes destiny has called them to the temple. Since Dev is unable to open the door, he convinces a reluctant Sig to uses his Force powers to unlock the door, which splits to permit them entry.
The three find themselves entering a hallway lined with several statues. Sig finds an inscription saying that this Temple holds the galaxy together. Dev takes an interest in aglowing cornerstone at the bottom of a wall. Sig advises against tempering with the objects in the Temple but Dev chastises his younger brother for being afraid of taking risks. When Dev goads Sig, he loses his temper and uses the Force to summon the glowing cornerstone from the wall. Sig asks his brother if he is now happy.
Tampering with space and time[]
The two brothers are interrupted by acloaked figure, who warns them to get away from there. The cloaked figure reacts with dismay to the object's removal, which triggers the collapse of the Jedi Temple. Dev manages to flee through the doorway before it collapses under the weight of rubble. Sig and Servo are left behind. The cloaked figure laments that space and time are falling apart, and that everything is going to change. The various planets of the galaxy break apart and reassemble in different colors. The cloaked figure laments that the "building blocks" of the galaxy are getting mixed up.
The Cornerstone's removal triggers change during theBattle of Hoth where ImperialAT-AT walkers are reassembled as orange AT-AT walkers bearingfirebird symbols on a volcanic landscape. The cloaked figure adds that everything that we know about the galaxy will be different. Elsewhere, a scene ofJedi MasterQui-Gon Jinn andPadawanObi-Wan Kenobi battlingB1 battle droids is replaced by one of B1 battle droids watching aholochess game. As the cloaked figure says that worlds will change, the salt on the planetCrait is replaced by pepper.
As the cloaked figure says that people will change,Yoda andPalpatine are transformed into aliens including aKowakian monkey-lizard in a meeting. As the cloaked figure adds "in ways we cannot possibly imagine," Luke Skywalker is transferred from theDeath Star trench run during theBattle of Yavin to becoming anairspeeder delivery driver. As the cloaked figure laments that what has come before us is gone, the Ewoks are transferred to a barren desert world while the Jedi during theBattle of Geonosis are transformed intoGeonosians. Rey is replaced by an alien. A bright blue light engulfs the galaxy.
An altered galaxy[]
Sig and Servo emerge to find themselves on a barren desert landscape covered in ruins. While searching for Dev, they encounter severalMon Calamari inClone trooper armor, who exclaim "It's a trap" repeatedly. One of the Mon Calamari Clone troopers asks Sig and Servo what they are doing on Fenessa, which belongs to theGalactic Empire. Sig believes the Empire is gone and addresses the Mon Calamari as the lateAdmiralAckbar. The Mon Calamari clones surround Sig, intending to take him to theSith Lord. However, Yesi comes to the rescue and takes out the stormtroopers with hergaffi stick and fighting moves.
Yesi doesn't recognize Sig. When Sig asks why she saved him, she replies that anyone who is an enemy of a clone trooper is a friend to the Rebellion. When she asks how he knows her, Sig struggles to explain, prompting Yesi to believe that the Rebellion sent him. Sig explains that he is not a rebel but that he lives on Fenessa with his brother. When Sig tells her that they work for her dad, Yesi doesn't know what he is talking about and tells him that her father was killed by the Empire. She says that she is only here to scout Fenessa for the Rebellion. Sig says that it doesn't make sense but Yesi thinks that he is all mixed up. When a Mon Calamari clone trooper emerges, Sig uses the Force to knock him out with a brick.
When Yesi asks if he is a Jedi, Sig says he is not a Jedi. Yesi does not believe him and and thinks that he is a Jedi who could help the Rebellion. As they enter a town, they walk past two arguing Clone troopers. The town is full of Clone troopers. The two humans and Servo take shelter behind crates at aspaceport. Sig is surprised to seeX-fighters flying. Yesi hides Sig as several Clone troopers walk past. When Yesi remarks that the Clone troopers are dumber thanrancors, Sig starts to explain that rancors are intelligent but Sig tells them to follow here.
Darth Devastator[]
While hiding behind more crates, Sig sees his brother Dev in dark robes walking with several Clone troopers. Believing that Dev has been taken prisoner by the Empire, Sig runs up to him despite Yesi's warnings. Darth Dev does not recognize Sig, who tries to explain that they are brothers. Dev senses that Sig is strong with the Force. Sig tells Dev that they found an ancient Jedi Temple, which alarms Yesi. Dev reveals that he has been searching for the temple for years and that he is now called "Darth Dev." Sig thinks his brother is joking until Dev reveals that his full name is "Darth Devastator" and unleashesForce lightning. Sig tries to flee but Dev levitates him and Yesi.
Darth Dev orders his Clone troopers to take Sig and Yesi to his castle. After the Clone troopers bind them withmagnetic binders, Yesi tells Sig that Dev is theSith Lord who ruled the galaxy. Meanwhile, Servo bumps into the mysterious cloaked man, who tells him to calm down while he activates a greenlightsaber. He tells Servo that we are going to save them. The episode ends on a cliffhanger.
