Description[]
A noted nightclub[]
The Outlander Club was a nightclub and gambling hall[1] located on theplanet[4]Coruscant, in theUscru Entertainment District'sVos Gesal Street.[5] The club had a good location,[2] and it was situated next to theSnapping Septoid.[5] The proprietors of the club were a secretive band ofColumi, though it was truly owned by localShistavanencrime lordVolven Roxe.[6] It was once a small and stylish establishment that catered to the high-class connoisseurs of the complex and fashionable[7]gambling[1] game "Outlander." Under the management of theBaath brothers, the club became a notorious meeting place for Coruscant's criminal networks and rapidly expanded to accommodate the latest gaming trends.[7] The club eschewed dignity for dazzle and welcomed everyone's credits and trafficked high-risk vice.[6] Being tucked away in a less developed area of the Uscru District, which was rarely patrolled by law enforcement crews, the club was not secret of its policy to accept bets on just about every game inthe galaxy. The club even accepted the popularGalactic Games, which betting on was highly illegal.[7]
Patrons[]
The Outlander Club was a popular hangout for wide selection of Coruscant's glitterati,[5] among them were lowlife and criminals searching for gullible victims to exploit. Some patrons came to have a good time, though most were in search of something different, like companionship,[4] whether it be permanent or temporary, buying and selling wares both legal and illicit,[5] or coning people. Though for all of them, the club was a place that made the rest of the world fade away. Catering tooxygen-breathing humanoids,[2] the Outlander attracted mostly that clientele, as pan-species clubs were for the truly determined and stout of heart.[4] Although nearly exclusively humanoid, patrons came from far and wide. Attracting outrageously-dressed fashion devotees, the patron's diversity was reflected in the garish and often bizarreoutfits found in the club.[2]
History[]
- "Sounds like happy hour at the Outlander."
- ―RC-1309[8]
Jango Fett went to the club looking for a deathstick dealer,Jervis Gloom, who would help lead him toKomari Vosa. Approximately ten years later, Fett's on-and-off partnerZam Wesell ran inside to escapeObi-Wan Kenobi andAnakin Skywalker after she failed in her attempt to assassinateSenatorPadmé Amidala.

Aboutone year before theBattle of Yavin,Han Solo andChewbacca visited the Outlander Club, where Solo shared a drink with a femaleZygerrian. Bounty hunterDengar was also there at the time.[9]
Behind the scenes[]
The Outlander Club was originally intended to be much more club-like, with its patrons dancing. After it was deemed too distracting, the gambling and underworld dealing aspects were enhanced.
The shot of the betting area with the three large view screens was a late addition to the sequence, filmed in miniature and populated byLucasfilm employees shot in front of a blue screen. There were only five people available, who went through different costume changes. As such, visual effects producerJill Brooks is in the shot three times, andAmy Allen twice. These extras were also used to fill out the pick-up shots filmed in England, notably the exchange between Anakin and Obi-Wan about the bounty hunter being a changeling.
An orange-skinned being who closely resembled aLepi, though may not have been, was present in the Outlander Club when Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker were searching for Zam Wesell.
Though this may have been a simple mistake made before the name of the Outlander Club was decided upon, manyAurebesh advertisements present in the Coruscant Entertainment District level inStar Wars: Bounty Hunter advertise a "Club Orb." These advertisements also exist within the Outlander Club itself. It could be an alternate name for the club (such as the case with theMos Eisley Cantina, which is also known as Chalmun's Cantina), or perhaps one of the two other bars located in the level. However, it seems unlikely that a nightclub's interior would have advertisements for another nightclub.
