Rise of the Empire era
This sector, especially theKashyyyk system, was the site of numerous conflicts, and its two major native species, theWookiees andTrandoshans, were skilled warriors. The Wookiees were sometimes treated as mere animals, and several times slaver organizations such asCzerka Corporation or theMytaranor Slaving Council set up operations in the sector to exploit them as slave labor. The Trandoshans, on the other hand, often worked with the slavers, or were employed as bounty hunters around the galaxy.
Description[]

The Mytaranor sector and its surroundingsectors
The Mytaranor sector was located in theMid Rim, in the region known asthe Slice.[2] This sector bordered theLantillian,Taldot,Kastolar,Trax, andTerr'skiar sectors. The sector featured several trade routes such as theRandon Run, which connected thePerlemian Trade Route to Randon; theOotmian Pabol, linking Randon to theHutt capital ofNal Hutta; and others. TheThornhedge Nebula, which formed from the remains of theKyyr system after it went supernova, forms part of the boundary between this sector and theTerr'skiar sector.[2]
The Mytaranor sector was the center of theKashyyyk Region, which contained parts of six other sectors, five of which bordered the Mytaranor. The Kashyyyk system, aside from being a trade hub at the intersection of six hyperspace routes, was home to two native species: the Wookiees of Kashyyyk, and the Trandoshans of Trandosha. Kashyyyk was a planet of giantwroshyr trees covering all land a kilometer in from the shores. The Wookiees themselves were a hair-covered mammalian species who made their homes on the treetops and on the shores. The Trandoshans were a lizard-like reptilian species. The moons of Alaris were settled by Wookiees in32 BBY.
The planets ofKwookrrr andRakhuuun were both Wookiee colonies, the former being infamous for its slave factories and farms during theImperial Period.Torn Station was a refueling stop near Kashyyyk.Mytaranor, which shares its name with that of the sector, is home to the Mytaranor Slaving Council. The planet ofOta near the Thornhedge Nebula is an ice planet home to the primitiveSnogar.
Randon is the capital of the sector and home to theRandoni, nativeHumans known as skilled bargainers and politicians. Like Kashyyyk, Randon was located at a nexus of trade routes.
History[]
Early history[]
The planet of Kashyyyk was an agricultural planet controlled by theRakatanInfinite Empire during pre-Republic years. When the Rakata left, their Force-powered machinery continued working and produced the massivewroshyr trees that Kashyyyk became famous for. Wroshyr trees also somehow arrived onAlaris Prime, a moon of the gas giantAlaris in the Kashyyyk system. The sector was explored by theGalactic Republic somewhere between20,000 BBY and8000 BBY.[2] Republic scouts charted the Ootmian Pabol fromGyndine through the Mytaranor sector and into Hutt Space around12,000 BBY.
Old Republic[]
The sector was a minor battleground in theOld Sith Wars. TheSithattacked Randon as part of their assault on the Slice during the time ofExar Kun. TheRandon system was againattacked in3962 BBY during theMandalorian Wars. There was abattle won by theSith during theJedi Civil War at Randon. The Mytaranor sector was mostly part of the Sith Empire at its height during this war, though there was arebellion on Kashyyyk of Wookiee slaves of Czerka Corporation instigated by former Sith LordRevan.
During theLight and Darkness War at the close of theNew Sith Wars, there were a string ofSith victories in the Kashyyyk system of the Mytatanor sector. At Kashyyyk andat Trandosha, theGloom Walkers led the Sith to victory.Dessel, who would one day become Dark Lord of the Sith, distinguished himself at these battles. There was also askirmish on Alaris Prime later.
In the last years of theOld Republic, the Mytaranor sector was represented in theGalactic Senate byYarua, a Wookiee. Shortly before theInvasion of Naboo, a group of Wookiees lead byAttichitcuk received permission to colonize Alaris Prime. This brought them into conflict with theTrade Federation, which had secretly taken the moon to exploit its resources. The Wookiee colonistsfought off the Trade Federation.
During theSeparatist Crisis and subsequentClone Wars, the Mytaranor sector was divided between theSeparatists andLoyalists. Whereas Kashyyyk and its neighbors were Loyalists, Randon and its neighbors were Separatists during most of the war. During theOuter Rim Sieges Randon was back in Republic control, but the Confederacystaged an assault upon Kashyyyk.Order 66 was issued to theClone Army during this battle, andJedi MasterYoda narrowly escaped.
Galactic Empire[]
After theDeclaration of a New Order, it came under the authority of theMoff ofSector 3, apparently a larger territory with its headquarters onBimmisaari inHalla sector. During theImperial Period, the Mytaranor sector was plagued by attacks of theMytaranor Slaving Council. The Sector was far away from most of theImperial activities and slaves were "needed" to make the most of the natural resources.[19] Due to Wookiee loyalty to the Jedi, the planet of Kashyyyk was subject to severalImperial attacks during theGreat Jedi Purge. Kashyyyk was again a battleground in theGalactic Civil War. In4 ABY, it was the site of theopening of theNagai invasion. Later that year Kashyyyk wasliberated by theNew Republic from Imperial rule, and it is likely that the rest of the sector was as well.
After the Empire[]
The Mytaranor sector, or Kashyyyk at least, was loyal to the New Republic through all the crises in its time. In23 ABY it was the site of abattle between the Jedi and theSecond Imperium.
During theYuuzhan Vong War, theinvading aliens passed through the Mytaranor sector within the first couple of years of war, taking Randon. Kashyyyk, however, was spared from the alien assault, and became a vital New Republic stronghold in the region. After the war, the Mytaranor became part of theGalactic Federation of Free Alliances, the successor state to the New Republic. SenatorTriebakk of the Mytaranor sector even became part of theHigh Council.
During theSecond Galactic Civil War, the Wookiees of the Mytaranor tried to remain neutral while they debated the correct course of action to take. This would not save Kashyyyk from an attack by Galactic AllianceChief of State and fallen JediJacen Solo, who led a bombardment on the surface of the forested world. This action provoked a split from the Galactic Alliance by theJedi Order, who form theJedi Coalition. Kashyyyk, and possibly other Wookiee worlds, were part of this coalition until the end of the war and the reintegration back into the Galactic Alliance.
By137 ABY, the Mytaranor sector was part ofDarth Krayt's Galactic Empire.
