It depended onvaporators, a type of device that could harvest excess atmospheric humidity. On hot and ariddesertworlds likeTatooine, moisture farming was a vital activity. TheLars family, into whichLuke Skywalker was adopted, ownedone such farm. The family ofBiggs Darklighter was rich enough to own twenty.[2]
Banthas were sometimes employed on moisture farms.[3]Droids were useful on moisture farms too.Owen Lars purchased the droidsC-3PO andR2-D2 because of C-3PO's ability to speakBocce and thebinarylanguage of moisture vaporators and, in the case of R2-D2, because of the general utility of anastromech droid.[1]
