Mission to Mustafar

Amission was undertaken in35 ABY bySupreme LeaderKylo Ren and asquad ofFirst Orderstormtroopers to collect aSith wayfinder fromFortress Vader on theplanetMustafar.

Prelude[]

Following anominous threat of revenge broadcast by the long-deceasedDarth Sidious^[1] in35 ABY,^[3]Supreme LeaderKylo Ren immediately focusedhisefforts on eliminating what he perceived as a challenge to his newly obtained power.^[1] Guided by the teachings of his former masterSnoke regarding the arcane lore of theSithreligion, Ren's course of action centered on travelling to thefieryworld ofMustafar, hoping to find artifacts that would aid in his search for the legendary planetExegol, the hiddenworld of the Sith.^[2]

The mission[]

Supreme Leader Ren was accompanied to thescorched world by bothGeneralArmitage Hux andGalactic Civil War veteranAllegiant GeneralEnric Pryde, who would oversee Kylo Ren's onslaught while discussing the nature of Palpatine's alleged broadcast.^[4]

Once planetside atCorvax Fen,^[4] Kylo Ren and asquad ofstormtroopers engaged theAlazmec of Winsit,^[1] a devout sect ofSith cultists which worshiped Ren'sgrandfather, the fallenSith LordDarth Vader.^[2] The Alazmec sought to defend the castle grounds ofFortress Vader from theFirst Order's incursion, though they were no match for the Supreme Leader and his elitetroops. Fueled by rage and determination, Ren cut down the Alazmec cultists in his path, eventually clearing out the entire group that stood before him and his escort.^[4]

Ren continued alone and met theEye of Webbish Bog. Ren tried tomind trick the symbiotic creature, but it was immune. The Eye then pointed the Supreme Leader towardVader'sSith wayfinder.^[4]

Aftermath[]

Ren located theSith artifact, and set course for itscoordinates—Exegol—aboard hisTIE/wi modified interceptor, seeking to finalize his goal to destroy Sidious and secure his position asthe galaxy'ssole ruler.^[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The mission to Mustafar first appeared in the2019 filmStar Wars: Episode IXThe Rise of Skywalker, the third and final installment of theStar Warssequel trilogy.^[1]

Originally,Armitage Hux andEnric Pryde accompanied Kylo Ren to retrieve thewayfinder. While their actors,Domhnall Gleeson andRichard E. Grant filmed the scene, it wascut from the final product.^[5] Thenovelization of the film, however, included this scene.^[4]
