Mary Jo Duffy is a comic book writer who worked on many of theMarvel Star Wars comics. Her firstStar Wars issue wasSilent Drifting. She would later go on to be the regular writer on the title beginning withStar Wars (1977) 70 and continue until the end of the series. She created several recurring characters in the series includingDani,Rik Duel,Kiro, and brought Shira Brie back asLumiya.

Biography[]

Joining Marvel in an editorial position in late 1978/early 1979, Duffy's first credits as editor appear onThe Incredible Hulk #231 andThe Spectacular Spider-Man #26, both cover dated January 1979. She edited the first seventeen issues of Marvel'sROM series, before handing over the reins toAllen Milgrom.

Her writing work besidesStar Wars comic includedPower Man and Iron Fist,Conan the Barbarian, andWolverine. Among other things, she created the team and most of the members of theFallen Angels.

In the 1990s, she worked for other publishers, including DC Comics, where she wrote the first fourteen issues ofCatwoman (1993). For Rob Liefeld's Extreme Studios imprint ofImage Comics, she wrote all twenty-two issues of the firstGlory series, between March 1995 and April 1997.
