- "Their deflector shield is too strong! We'll never get through it!"
- ―Ric Olié during hisattack run on theDroid Control Ship[7]
TheLucrehulk-class battleship, also known as aDroid Control Ship, orTrade Federation battleship, was a modifiedLucrehulk-class LH-3210 cargo freighter that was used by theTrade Federation and theConfederacy of Independent Systems and manufactured byHoersch-Kessel Drive Inc.
Characteristics[]
Description[]
TheLucrehulk-classBattleship was a massive, lumbering and imposing battleship,[3] illegally[2] modified fromLucrehulk-class LH-3210 cargo freighters,[14] and produced byHoersch-Kessel Drive Inc..[5] Because they were not originally designed for conflict, Lucrehulk vessels reflected their conversion into warships.[15] The most notable difference in a regularLucrehulk-class Battleship and a Droid Control Ship was the largecommunications array on its dorsal hull.[16] The sensor arrays of the starship encircled the command centerspheres, while giantCentral Control Computers designed to radio commands to the massive droidarmies from remote locations helpedTrade Federation officials command battles far from danger.[14]
At over threekilometers in diameter, the Control Ship featured a massive, sphericalcore ship in the center of the craft that contained the control bridge for usuallyNeimoidianofficers along with itsreactor assemblies. The outer half-circle featured largehangars lined with forward docking claws.[17] Lucrehulks were capable warships, and the biggest vessel fielded by the CIS navy. Lucrehulks were equipped with thick armor and high density shields that could shrug off even the heaviest weaponry, and its heavy armament and shields made theLucrehulk some of the most potent warships ever deployed.[3]
Interior[]
Federation starship[]
With Federation officials needing to live aboard the starship for multiplemonths, the Lucrehulk was effectively an entire planet withinrealspace. The ship contained 50 conference rooms for meetings with clients. These rooms were made to place clients at a disadvantage using "concentration deficit" chairs and remote gas emitters.[11]
Aboard the bridge, the Lucrehulk was dominated by a throne-like navigation station with pilot droids on navigation computers. The Bridge was extremely well defended with triple blast doors and reinforced hull plating. Neimoidian officials rarely left the Bridge in case one of their colleagues were to form an alliance against them. Due to the possibly of facing danger, the bridge could be sealed off with triple blast doors.[11]
Hangar bay[]

A hangar bay withMulti-Troop Transports
Designed to haul massive droid armies, Droid Control Ships featured a complement of 6,520AATs, 550MTTs, 50C-9979 landing craft, 1,500Vulture-class starfighters, and 139,000B1-series battle droids.[14][18] All departures from the hangar were controlled by Hangar Control droids.[11]
Role[]
TheLucrehulk-class was used as both a transport and a battleship, and could effectively blockade a planet for years. They were heavily armored, but despite this, they were inefficient, expensive, and required frequent maintenance. As such, the primary reason the CIS navy deployed them was for their intimidating appearance.[3]
History[]
Origin[]
TheLucrehulk-class was originally designed to haul freight but were modified into battleships[14] for use in blockades.[15] They were granted 42 quad turbolasers.[14] They were utilized as early as theHigh Republic Era.[19] After the establishment of theTrade Federation Droid Army on the order ofDarth Sidious,[20] Lucrehulks were secretly modified into battleships that could house the droid armies.[14] Some were even transformed into Droid Control Ships, which also saw use in blockades but were unique in that they could direct ground-deployed battle droids.[15] Ahead of theInvasion of Naboo, up to one third of the Lucrehulks in the Federation fleet were modified into battleships while keeping the guise of merely being freight craft.[21]
Invasion of Naboo[]
- "General Skywalker blew up a droid control ship when he was just a kid, and he told me the trick was hitting their main reactor from the inside."
- ―ARC trooper Fives[22]
During the Invasion of Naboo, the Trade Federation brought a fleet ofLucrehulk-class Battleships, including a Droid Control Ship, to the[7]Mid Rim[2]planet ofNaboo[7] over disputes aboutplasma exports and thetaxation ofFree Trade Zones.[23] In addition to thisweek-longblockade,[24] the Federation landedtroops from its battleships to secure the planet.[7]
The control ship was later attacked byBravo Squadron, but itsdeflector shield was too strong. In the midst of the battle, the youngForce-sensitivepilotAnakin Skywalker accidentally flew inside the ship's hangar. As Skywalker attempted to make his escape, he fired upon the droids attacking hisfighter and inadvertently fired twoproton torpedoes into the starboard main reactor. The Control Ship started blowing up from the inside to Bravo Flight's surprise as Skywalker flew from the hanger bay. Finally, the ship's sphere exploded from the main reactor overloading, saving theGungan Grand Army from destruction by disrupting the Control Ship's signal, shutting down the B1battle droids below. The ship's port-side ring survived its destruction.[7]
The Clone Wars[]

Years later, the battleships were secretly converted for war, as a war with the Republic was becoming inevitable, although the conversion was not perfect asturbolasers did not cover every angle.[5] The battleships became part of thefleet of theConfederacy of Independent Systems[2] and saw action in various battles. Several battleships were part of theChristophsis blockade,[25] andCaptainMar Tuuk commanded a battleship as head of theRyloth blockade, although Tuuk's ship was destroyed by Anakin Skywalker, who was now aJedi General in theGrand Army of the Republic, during theBattle of Ryloth.[26]Lucrehulk-class Battleships with their original design having none of the Separatist colors and logos were used in the blockade ofPantora, under the command ofSib Canay.K2-B4 commanded theLola Sayu defense fleet from aLucrehulk-class Battleship during theBattle of Lola Sayu.[27] During a meeting by theStrategic Advisory Cell at theStrategic Planning Amphitheater, aLucrehulk-class Battleship was compared with theDeath Star.
At one point,General Skywalker toldARC trooperFives that a Droid Control Ship could be destroyed by hitting its main reactor. Fives used this knowledge during theBattle of Umbara, as he and two fellowclone troopers,Hardcase andJesse, attempted to target aDH-Omni Support Vessel's reactor.[22]Lucrehulk Battleships were also used in theBattle of Coruscant,[28] the final major Separatist offensive of the Clone Wars.[29]
Age of the Empire[]
- "The Raider base is in the swamp. They gutted an old Lucrehulk battleship from the Clone Wars."
"We've seen it. Means they've got a lot of firepower." - ―Mosey Cimmaron andCal Kestis talking about the Bedlam Raiders base[30]

In14 BBY,[31] aLucrehulk-class Battleship was brought toBracca for theScrapper Guild.[32]
In9 BBY,[33] acore ship of the LucrehulkPrimacy was present onKoboh. It was used as a base by theBedlam Raiders, a group of marauders who used the battle droids present on the ship to increase their power.[30]
During theGalactic Civil War theRebel Alliance utilized a Lucrehulk,Lucrehulk Prime, as a flight school, and was commanded by GeneralHera Syndulla.[12] Syndulla considered the ship to be a symbol of tyranny that was converted into one of hope.[34]
Decades later in35 ABY, several Lucrehulks were part of theCitizens' Fleet which successfully took part in theBattle of Exegol against Darth Sidious and theSith Eternal.[13]

TheLucrehulk-class Battleship first appeared in the1999 film,Star Wars: Episode IThe Phantom Menace[7] and was first identified in the2017 video game,Star Wars Battlefront II.[35] AlthoughStar Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know,[18]Rise of the Separatists,[3] andStar Wars Jedi Master Magazine 1[9] state that it holds 139,000B1-series battle droids,Star Wars Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles states that it has a capacity to carry 329,000. It also states that theLucrehulk-class Battleship holds 6,250 Armored Assault Tanks,[5] whileStar Wars: Ships of the Galaxy establishes 6,520.[14]Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles andStar Wars Jedi Master Magazine 1 also states that it is 3,170meters in length,[5] while previous sources such as thedatabank established 3,356.9 meters.[17] In all cases, when there is a contradiction, this article assumesEncyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles is incorrect.
