"You know, some say you're the greatest spy in Mos Eisley spaceport. Some say you're wildly wealthy. Some say you're greedy, unprincipled, and dirty, that you do what you do for the pure joy of destroying so many well-laid plans. So tell me, Long Snoot. What are you really?" "I am very far from home."
Kardue'sai'Malloc sat with Dice Ibegon (left) and Ketwol (right) at Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina.
Kardue'sai'Malloc was still in the cantina when Zavor later returned for another drink, and while the Kubaz waited to receivepayment on a job he had completed, the pair discussed[5] the cantina housebandFigrin D'an and the Modal Nodes.[11] The Devaronian complimented the band, but the Kubaz criticized them for lacking in higher musical tones, prompting Kardue'sai'Malloc to retort that Zavor knew nothing of music. When the Kubaz learned he would not be getting paid, his snout deflated, and Kardue'sai'Malloc asked if something was wrong. Zavor told the Devaroninan that he needed a quick job thatday, and so, with renewed interest in the Kubaz, Kardue'sai'Malloc told him that theKettonDerrida needed a number two for anassassination thatnight.[5]
When the Kubaz questioned why Kardue'sai'Malloc had not taken the job himself, the Devaronian laughed and told him it was too much work, but when Zavor slid him half acredit, Kardue'sai'Malloc explained that no one else would take it because it involved going against the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Zavor accepted the job and Kardue'sai'Malloc messaged Derrida from hisdatapad, informing the Kubaz that she would send him coordinates. He then questioned Zavor on the various rumors surrounding the Kubaz, chuckling and returning the half credit for an answer when Zavor gestured for it. The Kubaz then simply told Kardue'sai'Malloc that he was a long way fromhome and left.[5]
Personality and traits[]
"Why don't you take it, then?" "Too much work." "Why has no one else taken the job?" "It's against the Alliance. No one likes taking sides. The humans don't, I mean. One master is much the same as another."
Kardue'sai'Malloc was a regular at Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina.
Kardue'sai'Malloc was a wily,[15] cruel, and vicious individual.[9] He considered one master much the same as the other when taking jobs and was not concerned about siding with the Empire or Alliance during the war but believed that it was something thathumans specifically took issue with. However, he considered working with Derrida on an Imperial assassination to be too much work, but passed along information on the job to Zavor, only divulging its controversial nature when paid half a credit. Once Zavor accepted the job, Kardue'sai'Malloc looked at the spy as though seeing him for the first time and having heard many rumors about the Kubaz, the Devaronian was willing to return the half credit to learn what Zavor considered to be the truth.[5]
Kardue'sai'Malloc considered the music ofFigrin D'an and the Modal Nodes to be good and criticized Zavor's knowledge when the Kubaz claimed that the band's performance was lacking in higher tones. Zavor did not believe that the Devaronian could understand him or read even a fraction of any body language he expressed, although he was able to note the Kubaz's reaction to learning that he had not been paid. When thinking, Kardue'sai'Malloc audibly slid his pointed,[5] yellowing[1]teeth in and out of place. He hadred skin[5] and browneyes.[4]
Skills and abilities[]
Kardue'sai'Malloc had average speed, strength, intelligence, and fighting abilities but had below averagediplomatic skills[9] and was a terrible spy.[3] He was notForce-sensitive.[9] In combat he used his large horns against foes when it was necessary, which it often was while he was on the run.[2]

Makeup artistRick Baker created the latex mask used for Kardue'sai'Malloc for an early 1970sJohn Landis film pitch that was never released called "I was a Teenage Vampire," and it was then used in "The Thing in the Attic," a Halloween show byBob Burns in1974.[22] By the time it was used inStar Wars, the mask had been altered by shortening the horns and removing a beard.[23] The character was called "Louie," "the Devil,"[19] and "Devil Guy" on set.[23] The mask was later gifted to Burns and his wife, Kathy Burns, who then had it partially restored for display byTom Spina Designs, as it had become distorted.[22]
