Peace and thievery[]

Elsewhere, in theRegional Republic Headquarters onJaloria,RepublicGovernorTok leads negotiations fora treaty to endthe war onGlee Anselm fought between its predominantspecies theAnselmi andNautolans. As a show of good faith in brokering the treaty,ChancellorValorum has authorized theRepublic Museum to release one of its most valuable artifacts, theHope of Glee Anselm. Incorporating the Anselmi'ssacred firestone of KingSkrawll, and the Nautolans'Leviathan Gem, the relic was sculpted from the royal jewels of both people during a time of harmony between the species. As the two sides argue over whose possession it should be in, agroup ofblackarmor-ladenthieves burst in and kill theSenate Guards, intent on stealing the Hope of Glee Anselm. The heist is later covered by theHoloNet News, who reveal that while Republic forces killed most of the thieves, one managed to get away with the relic. Those who remained spontaneouslycombusted, concealing the identities of the thieves. The ordeal is framed as an embarrassment for Chancellor Valorum's administration. Another failure is the devolving trade negotiations between theTrade Federation andNaboo.

Meanwhile, on theOuter Rim worldHalmad, Jango Fett delivers Fissark Tozan toY3-99's Bounty Services. There Fett is informed of a new job by thedroid.Y3-99 shows Fett a transmission of Governor Tok, asking to recover the Hope of Glee Anselm on behalf of the Republic. TheJedi cannot be involved because the Anselmi dislike that the NautolanKit Fisto is among the Jedi ranks. Jango Fett accepts the bounty, but soon finds out he is not the only bounty hunter who has been contacted about this job.

Stiff competition[]

In theTwo Blasters Bar onDaiyu, threeHouk brothers imbibe and boast that the bounty for the Hope of Glee Anselm is theirs alone. When another patron comments on theirtracking fob, the Hauks swat his drink on the ground and exit thecantina. The man follows them into an alleyway outside and picks a fight with the much larger Hauks, where he uses his impressive close combat skills to incapacitate them and defeat them with their ownelectrostaffs. Before leaving with the tracking fob, he reveals his name to beVigor Struk.

On theExpansion Region planetMegalox Beta, in Megalox Penitentiary, theprisonwarden and many Republicjudicials stand armed and ready for a prisoner transfer. As the prisonerAurra Sing arrives on the elevator, JudicialHuijari secretly hands the warden a bag ofcredits for her troubles and for purging files. Aurra Sing is thus remanded into the custody of theJudicial Forces of the Republic, and is going to track down a bounty hunter in order to commute her sentence.

At a landing platform on Halmad, Jango Fett walks to his ship,Slave I, with Y3-99. They spot a group of black-armored individuals loitering around his ship. Jango makes short work of them, gunning them down and even doing so with a reflective disk to ricochet his shot around a corner. After dealing with the group, Jango goes back to talk to Y3-99 about the job, but finds the droid destroyed. With this, the Mandalorian bounty hunter departs the planet on hisstarship to start his hunt.
