- "This isGolrath. We've established one of several scattered, temporary bases here since the Imperial forces drove us away from Hoth."
- ―Leia Organa[3]
Golrath was aplanet located in theSanbra sector of theOuter Rim Territories. A heavilyvolcanic world, Golrath was at one point home to amagma smelting industry that was largely abandoned after the planet underwent a phase of global cooling—the planet's volcanic bedrock had unique light-absorbing properties that allowed it to play back images it collected in a manner similar to aholoprojector. In3 ABY, an abandoned magma smelting plant on Golrath became home toGolrath Station, a temporaryRebel Alliance base at the height of theGalactic Civil War.
Description[]
- "We've run tests on the stone, and we've found that it possesses some ratherunique properties. When this particular mineral is heated, as it was on volcanic Golrath, it absorbs light rays from around it. But when it cools, it releases those rays, just as this paperweight has, playing them back like a holodrama!"
- ―Wella[4]
Located along theHydian Way betweenArbra andBeheboth,[2] Golrath was a rockyplanet in theOuter Rim'sSanbra sector.[1] Golrath had heavyvolcanic activity, and its surface was constantly reshaped with flowinglava.[3] Golrath's volcanic bedrock had unique properties—when heated, the rock absorbed light rays that it then released as it cooled, which caused it to replay the images it had collected in a manner similar to aholoprojector.[4] Despite the constant volcanic activity, the planet's air was comfortably breathable forHumans, even without abreath mask.[3]
History[]
- "And worse, the reason the plant was abandoned was that it had stopped turning a profit—because the whole planet wascooling!"
- ―Hanc Thorben[4]

Golrath Station during its inhabitation by the Rebel Alliance.
A heavily volcanic world, Golrath at one point was home to a healthy magma smelting industry, withcity-sized plants built within the calderae of the planet's largest volcanoes. However, by the era of theGalactic Civil War, those resources had been largely tapped out—[3]the product of large-scale planetary cooling—[4]and the miners had moved on. In3 ABY, during the height of the war, Golrath was home to one of series of temporaryRebel bases following its defeat at theBattle of Hoth. CalledGolrath Station, the Rebel facility was located inside one of these abandoned smelting plants. Rebel heroLuke Skywalker was cloistered for a time on Golrath as he recovered from the deadly disease known as theCrimson Forever—the Rebels left Golrath not long after his recovery, as their presence had been uncovered by the Imperial-alliedDomina Tagge.[3]
AnImperial force led byLieutenantMils Giel moved in not long after, in what initially appeared to be a futile investigation of the abandoned base for any Rebel secrets. Although the Rebels left no trace of their passing, Giel's men discovered the planet's bedrock's ability to replay nearby events, putting Rebel secrets at risk—Rebel leadership on nearby Arbra learned of Golrath's unique stone at around the same time, and dispatched a strike force to destroy the facility.PrincessLeia Organa infiltrated the base and overloaded its reactor, destroying any trace of the Rebels' presence and scattering the Imperial detachment.[4]
Locations[]
- "Everyone's quarters come equipped with hot and cold running lava?"
- ―Han Solo[3]
A fiery, inhospitable world, Golrath's surface had few artificial structures—one of the rare exceptions was Golrath Station, occupied by the Rebels during a nomadic period after the Battle of Hoth. Located in the remnants of an abandoned magma smelting plant[3] built out of the planet's volcanic stone,[4] Golrath Station retained its tarnished, corroded exterior but had a completely remodeled interior bustling with activity, including state-of-the-art medical facilities.[3]
