Aforce escort orescort force was a formation of theImperial Navy commanded by asystems admiral. It was comprised of twoheavy squadrons, and twolight squadrons, for a total average of one hundred and eightstarships. Force escort formations were deployed to protect commercially strategic space or installations. They were also deployed to engage small bands of renegades and outlaws, such aspirates.
