TheFirst Order riot control stormtrooper, also called simply theriot control stormtrooper, was a specialized variant of the standardstormtrooper of theFirst Order. Assigned to keep order on worlds within First Order territory, they were trained in riot-control tactics and given non-lethal equipment,[1] such as lightweight compositebetaplast ballisticriot shields andZ6 riot control batons[6] They also carried lethal weapons, such as theSonn-BlasF-11D blaster rifle, in case situations spiraled out of control.[1][6] Indeed, riot control stormtroopers could be fielded into active battlefields as specialized soldiers, during which they would wield any of the lethal or non-lethal weapons on their person depending on what the battlefield called for.[4]

During theBattle of Takodana,FN-2199, armed with a Z6 riot control baton, fought his former brother-in-armsFinn in alightsaber duel, besting Finn untilHan Solo shot him withChewbacca'sbowcaster.[4]

Riot control stormtroopers were later present aboard theSupremacy whenCaptainPhasma ordered the executions of both Finn andResistancetechnicianRose Tico.[2]
