Eyes were the primary visual organ of manysentient and animalspecies. Most species possessed a single pair of eyes located on their head, although some species, such asAbyssin, had only one eye,[2] whileGran had three, and others, like theHarch and theDyplotid, possessed several pairs.[3] Yet other species, like theMelitto fromLi-Toran, orMiraluka likeProsset Dibs, had no eyes at all, relying on other organs to navigate.[4]

A human's eyecolor was determined by the pigmentation in the iris. The phenotypic eye color for allclone troopers was brown,[10] because they were all grown from the sameclone template, thebounty hunterJango Fett.[11] This also applied to the mutatedClone Force 99, as their mutation did not affect the iris pigmentation.[10] A humanparent could pass on their eye color to theiroffspringBen Solo had the same piercing brown eyes as his motherLeia Organa, who was sure that this feature was inherited from her own birth mother,Padmé Amidala.[12] As a child, Leia used to see kindness in eyes of her adoptive fatherBail Organa and, despite knowing she was adopted, used to hope she saw the same kindness in her own eyes.[13]

When tutoringLuke Skywalker in the use ofthe Force,Obi-Wan Kenobi warned him that his eyes could deceive him and suggested not to trust them. To prove his point, he blindfolded Skywalker, after which Skywalker was successful in deflecting shots from atraining remote with hislightsaber by drawing upon the power of the Force.[2]

When the redeemed Anakin Skywalker was mortally wounded after killing theEmperor to save his son, his last request was for Luke to remove his helmet so that he could look on his son with his own eyes instead of through the filters of his mask.[17]
