TheE-5 blaster rifle, also known asDroid blaster,[14] was a bulkyblaster rifle[15] manufactured byBaktoid Armor Workshop. It was reverse-engineered from aBlasTech design[1] of theE-series.[16] The E-5[5] visually resembled a blaster rifle[17] nicknamed "Beti" from theHigh Republic Era.[18] TheE-5C heavy blaster rifle was identical to the default E-5 blaster rifle, save for an added woodenstock and modifiedbarrel.[19]
History[]
The Clone Wars[]

The E-5 was the primary weapon of the B1-series battle droid.
The E-5 was created[16] and adapted from the BlasTech design to be used byB1-series battle droids.[1]Bounty hunterC-21 Highsinger wielded an E-5 whileattacking fellow huntersJango Fett andAurra Sing.[20] It was also used byBX-series droid commandos. It was used throughout theClone Wars, making it the most common weapon of theSeparatists. Theblaster generated excessive heat, which was caused by its rapid-fire mode, making it uncomfortable fororganics to use but more than adequate for abattle droid.[1]
SeveralIG-86 sentinel droids during the Clone Wars wielded E-5 blasters.[21] A number ofNikto guards employed by theHutt Clan wielded E-5 blasters. Many such guards were active inGardulla the Hutt'sPalace on theHuttcapital world ofNal Hutta, where they wielded their E-5s in defense of the palace and theGrand Hutt Council's operations.[6] In19 BBY,[22] those Nikto guards used their E-5 in combat against theinvadingShadow Collective once the rogueSith LordMaul threatened the lives of the council, only for their defense to fail. After taking Gardulla's Palace, the Shadow CollectiveattackedJabba's Palace, where another such E-5 equipped Nikto and two E-5-equippedQuarren were present.[6] Following the Clone Wars, apolice droid model[10] that resembled the BX-seriescommandodroid[23] also used the E-5. These police droids wielded E-5s while patrolling adecommissioning facility inCoronet City on theworld ofCorellia. Additionally, many E-5s and their B1 owners were set to be melted down in the facility, although a number of the droids were reactivated during aninfiltration. Many reactivated B1s again wielded E-5 blaster rifles, using them to fire upon the police droids.[10]
Imperial Era and beyond[]

NED-B wields a modified E-5 blaster rifle in the defense of Jabiim.
NED-B used a modified[24] E-5 againststormtroopers during the Imperialattack on Jabiim.[25] Maul made use of three reprogrammedRIC-1200 droids who each wielded an E-5 blaster rifle.[26]
Baze Malbus wielded a personally modified[27] E-5 blaster[28] identified as anE-5 carbine[27] during his opposition to theGalactic Empire'soccupation of Jedha. He repeatedly needed to fix the blaster until it finally was too broken for further use, which his friendChirrut Îmwe considered a shame. Malbus soon replaced the E-5 with arepeating cannon.[28]
TheHK-87 assassin droids working underMorgan Elsbeth used these rifles. One was taken bySabine Wren when these droids broke in to steal thestar map.[29] During theCold War, theWarbird gang continued to use these blaster rifles, although these were more rugged with a longer barrel.[30]

Behind the scenes[]
The E-5 blaster rifle first appeared inStar Wars: Episode IThe Phantom Menace as the weapon that equipped the Trade Federation B1-series battle droids. Originally, as seen in animatics forStar War: Attack of the Clones, theB2-series super battle droids were to dual wield E-5 blaster rifles instead of having a built-inwrist blaster.[31]
Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide mistakenly refers to the E-5 as ablaster pistol.[24]
