TheDeep Core Security Zone was an area ofthe galaxy'sDeep Core which was controlled by theGalactic Empire.[1] It was considered a sensitive region and access to the zone was restricted by the15th Deep Core Reserve Fleet, operating out of nearbyEmpress Teta.[2] A number ofInterdictor vessels were developed for the zone, butMoffWilhuff Tarkin requisitioned them to use in an attempt to capture his stolencorvette, theCarrion Spike. TheImperial AdvisorKren Blista-Vanee informedGalactic EmperorSheev Palpatine of Tarkin's plan to use thecruisers.[1] Among the few who had clearance to fly through the zone was thetramp freightercaptainDana Galvason, aRebel Alliance sympathizer who flew theBakuran Blade.[3]
