"He's more machine now than man, twisted and evil."
―Obi-Wan Kenobi describes Darth Vader's cybernetics[1]
EchoSalute-SWI208

Echo was made into a cyborg by the Techno Union.

Acyborg[2] or amachine,[3] sometimes called amod,[4] was any living, organic being, sentient or not, whose body was enhanced with robotic parts.Cybernetic augmentation was an invasive process that changed a being'sbrain functions and physiology in significant ways, so much so that it was usually irreversible.[2]

Cybernetic technology could be used to help repair a body or sustain a life to varying degrees.Luke Skywalker received a cybernetic hand afterlosing his original hand in alightsaberduel,[5] while almost the entirety ofGeneralGrievous' body was replaced by cyberneticlimbs and other body parts.[6] After falling to thedark side and becomingDarth Vader,Anakin Skywalker wasseverely burned onMustafar, requiring him to live in acybernetic suit ofarmor for the rest of his life. In addition, all of his limbs were amputated and required mechanical replacements.[7] ThehumanTarr Kligson was saved from death with cybernetics but began to think of himself as a droid, intending to ascend into a fully-droid form.[8] He believed his cybernetic form left him ostracized by organics and droids alike.[9]

TheScourge focused on taking control of cyborgs to learn how to transplant itself into organic life.[10] Searching for cyborgs,[9] the Scourge infected acyborg onGallios,[11]Lobot,Magna Tolvan, andBeilert Valance,[10] who was offered to the Scourge by a willing Kligson. The Scourge, however, did not assimilate Kligson—judging him to be too human for itself[9] at that time[10]—and left him to the mercy of Valance's angered allies.[9] The Scourge's ultimate target was Vader,[12] whoseForce powers, knowledge, and memories were of great interested to the Scourge.[10] During theScourge of Coruscant, the corpses of fourdeath troopers were possessed by the Scourge. With his latest rebellion against hisSith MasterDarth Sidious thwarted, Vader willingly bonded with the Scourge in an effort to finally overpower Sidious.[13] He quickly separated himself from its main consciousness, however, and attempted to take control of it for himself.[14]

TheZero Anglecantina had a cyborgbartender,Florn.[15]Guavian security soldiers were cybernetically enhanced humans that served as the enforcers of theGuavian Death Gang.[16]Fennec Shand had a cybernetic lower abdomen after she was shot and nearly killed byToro Calican.[17]C-3PO often introduced himself using the phrase "I am C-3PO, human-cyborg relations."[18]
