TheCorporate Sector Authority, also known simply asCSA orCorpSec, was a corporateauthority that administered theCorporate Sector inthe galaxy'sOuter Rim.

Expanding theCorporate Sector Authority Security Police, the CSA made use ofmilitarizedforces to enforce its jurisdiction during theNew Republic Era. The CSA and its forces allied with theFirst Order and put down arevolt onBasta Core. By the time of theCold War, the Corporate Sector Authoritymonetarily supported the First Order.

History[]

Early foundations[]

Some form of the Corporate Sector Authority existed by the year132 BBY[5] during theHigh Republic Era as the governing body and security enforcement of theCorporate Sector, which existed as a region independent from theGalactic Republic. As such, Republic law did not exist within the Corporate Sector, necessitating the creation of the region's own security force and governing organization.[7] Nonetheless, the Corporate Sector was only made up of a series of loosely-aligned autonomousstar systems. Even if it was not yet a unified, singular entity, the Corporate Sector became home to numerous corporations as well as—within theSalient system specifically—tax evaders, armsmerchants, andpirates.[8] Complex extradition treaties existed between the Corporate Sector Authority and the Republic'sJudicial Department.[7]

While still not a single, unified body,[8] a majority of the Corporate Sector supported theConfederacy of Independent Systems during theClone Wars.[9] The star systems of the Corporate Sector were considered to be slowly coalescing into a unified entity[8] as of17 BBY[10] during theImperial Era. That was one of the main reasons theGalactic Empire decided to send a message to the systems defying it byoccupying the Salient system on the edge of thesector.[8]

Age of the Empire[]

The Corporate Sector Authority existed during the Imperial Era. Despite the Corporate Sector's support for the CIS during the war,Galactic EmperorSheev Palpatine decided against bringing its territory into his Empire. Instead, the CorpSec was allowed to spread into tens of thousands of systems, placing them under the CSA's control.[9]

The CSA and Empire did create a cooperative relationship with each other, with the authority selling services and goods to the Imperials, while the Empire helped with the Corporate Sector's security when needed; when a group ofpirates were active in the sector and launching raids,AdmiralWullf Yularen was dispatched to deal with them in acampaign.[9] The criminalBig Bunji once worked with thesmugglersHan Solo andChewbacca on a scam that involved running counterfeitAuthority cash vouchers to the poor people on the far side of theCron Drift.[4] Like it did with the Empire, the CSA sold goods and services to the Rebel Alliance.[9]

New Republic Era[]

"Corporate Sector Authority. I'd heard they were back in play, building themselves up, but I haven't seen that many together, ever. Looks like the rumors were true, they've formed some kind of army."
Lando Calrissian, toKomat[3]

TheNew Republic Era saw the expansion of theCorporate Sector Authority Security Police as well as a covert alliance between the CSA and the formingFirst Order in theUnknown Regions.[3] By21 ABY,[11] the CSA controlled anarmy ofEspos with morearmor and equipment than theirsecurity police predecessors. At the sametime, the CSA secretly funded the Imperial remnant. Anofficer of the remnant,High ColonelEnric Pryde, worked with the CSA as asupervisor and was given authority over its forces.ViceprexCoromun, an official of the CSA, served as Pryde's second-in-command. In order to maintain the secrecy of the remnant's connection to the CSA, Pryde was assigned thecode name Steadfast.[3]

During a CSAmission onBasta Core, Steadfast was sought out by theJedi hunterOchi ofBestoon. An operative of theSith Eternalcult onExegol, Ochi requested Steadfast's assistance with the search forDathan,Miramir, and their daughterRey. Steadfast reassigned acompany of CSAtroopers to Ochi's command, overruling the objections of Coromun. Ochi initially failed to capture Rey and her family, despite the CSA's support, and returned to Steadfast to request more detachments of CSAtroops. Instead, Steadfast denied the hunter's request, having terminated their arrangement and further warned Ochi to avoid the Corporate Sector.[3]

During theCold War, theResistance leaderGeneralLeia Organa received intelligence that the Corporate Sector Authority was givingmonetary support to the First Order who was channeling large sums of money toSenatorErudo Ro-Kiintor's accounts through shells and third-party corporations via the CSA.[1]

A formerCouncillor,Sturg Ganna, was untouchable by theCanto Bight Police Department and the Corporate Sector Authority Security Police.[12]

Organization[]

Military[]

The Corporate Sector Authority was a tyrannical power that controlled theCorporate Sector. The CSA possessed a force ofcapital ships it organized into afleet,[9] and its Security Police served as the main law enforcement agency in the Sector. Those police were made up of at least three branches, theGround Forces,Locational Enforcement, andSituational Enforcement. ThePicket Fleet served as thenaval force of the Corporate Sector Authority. Viceprex was a position within the CSA.[2]

Outside affairs[]

The Corporate Sector Authority was loyal to itself[9] and profits.[3] As such, the CSA established economic relations with both theGalactic Empire andAlliance to Restore the Republic, with the CSA and the Empire enjoying a cooperative relationship with each other, which sold services and goods to it and was assisted with security matters in the sector by the Empire.[9]

The CSA later lent its support to the First Order, a successor of theGalactic Empire, during the height of the ongoing tensions with theNew Republic, the then-galactic government, where shells and third-party corporations on behalf of the Order sent large sums of money via the Corporate Sector Authority into a Republic senator's personal accounts.[1]
