TheMerr-SonnC-22 fragmentation grenade was agrenade which consisted of a smalldetonite charge encased in a pre-stressedchrome shell. Upon detonation, the grenade filled an area of tenmeters in diameter with shrapnel.[1]

Twisting the timer dial up on the top of the grenade set a time delay for up to twominutes, while pressing the activation panel on the rim of the grenade primed the detonite charge and started the timer. Holding this panel down stopped the timer, and an access code deactivated the primer.[1]

The C-22 could either be thrown or, by means of a magnetic grapple on the underside of the grenade, be precisely placed for demolition work. In this form it could also be used as amine.[3]
