The termbounty referred to a reward offered in exchange for the capture, or sometimesdeath of an individual.Bounty hunters were individuals who made a living out of collecting bounties.
The term "bounty" could also refer to the specific individual that was being targeted, for which the reward was offered.[2] Bounties could be offered in-person to a hunter[3] or posted on theHunter Net.[4]

Around thetime of theBattle of Scarif, a bounty was issued forMon Mothma,Chancellor of theAlliance to Restore the Republic.[1]
Jabba theHutt eventually became so irritated withHan Solo that he placed a bounty of 224,190credits on his head.[5]Luke Skywalker once had a bounty of 60,000 credits against him from theGalactic Empire for the destruction of theDeath Star. This irritated Han Solo because, at the time, it was higher than his own Imperial-issued bounty,[6] which was 50,000 credits.[7]
Following theBattle of Yavin, theGalactic Empire placed a bounty of 10,000,000 credits on the head ofPrincessLeia Organa.[8][9]
Before theFirst Order-Resistance War, theFirst Order place a 20,000-credit bounty ontworunaway children fromTehar.[10]
