TheBattle of Garos occurred during theGalactic Civil War shortly after the end of theThrawn campaign. The planetGaros IV was freed by theNew Republic after years of intense local resistance against theGalactic Empire.

Following the death ofGrand AdmiralThrawn,Alexandra Winger, a member of theGarosian resistance, was involved in amission on theplanetSarahwiee withLuke Skywalker and thePage's Commandos.[7] Alex Winger's actions broughtGaros IV's situation to the attention of theNew Republic which sent a fleet to Garos.[1]

In preparation of the New Republic invasion,Dark JediJaalib Brandl was charged to oversee the evacuation of the Imperial dignitaries from the capitalAriana.[3]
The battle[]

During the beginning battle, Alexandra Winger andher adoptive father, the ImperialGovernor of Garos IV were kidnapped by Brandl who decided to betray the Empire and kill the governor. Tork Winger was severely injured but Alex managed to convince the Dark Jedi to release them.[3]
The New Republic fought the outnumbered Imperial forces on the planet,[1] with support of the Garosian resistance.[3] The battle was short and damage to the planet was light.[8]Matt Turhaya, Alex Winger's biological father was killed during the assault.[4]
Aftermath[]
After the battle, Garos IV joined the New Republic.[8] A prisoner exchange took place a few weeks after the battle, allowingDair Haslip to infiltrate the Imperial forces once again.[4]
The popularity of theUniversity of Garos caused an economic upswing of the planet during following years.[8]
