Ace Squadron, also known as theAces, was aracerstarfightersquadron and were alsoemployed by theColossusrefueling station as it main defence during theera of theNew Republic. The squadron consisted of the five pilotsHype Fazon,Freya Fenris,Griff Halloran,Bo Keevil, andTorra Doza. Besides their defense and escort work, Ace Squadron also participated in the station's numerous races.
Description[]
Ace Squadron was a starfighter squadron that defended theColossusrefueling station on the planetCastilon and also escorted critical shipments. It was also tasked with the handling of critical shipments. The Squadron consisted of the seven bestpilots—Jarek Yeager,Hype Fazon,Torra Doza,Kazuda Xiono,Freya Fenris,Griff Halloran, andBo Keevil—in the facility. They were also considered as some of the best pilots inthe galaxy. Aside from their role in station security, Ace Squadron was known to engage in competitivestarship racing for leisure.[1][21]
Ace Squadron had sevenracers which doubled as starfighters: Fazon'sGreen Ace, Doza'sBlue Ace, Xiono’sFireball, Yeager’sship, Fenris'Red Ace, Halloran'sBlack Ace, and Keevil'sYellow Ace.[1] Ace Squadron resided in the luxuriousDoza Tower where they relaxed in theAces' Lounge.[21] Fazon kept his ship in his ownpersonal hangar located in Doza Tower.[22]
History[]
Juggling defense and racing[]

Ace Squadron acted as both racing champions on theColossus as well as the station's personal defensive fighter squadron, earning them a lavish lifestyle aboard theColossus.
During theNew Republic Era, Ace Squadron defended theColossus from anattack byCaptainKragan Gorr'sWarbird gang of pirates.[6] While Ace Squadron was escorting an important supply shipment, the Warbird gang launched anotherattack on theColossus but were repelled byTeamFireball and the undercover pirateSynara San. The second one ledCaptainImanuel Doza to consider theFirst Order's proposal.[7] Later, Ace Squadron took part in defending theColossus from the enragedrokknamother who was seeking her childBibo during the "Bibo incident."[8]
Besides their defensive role, Ace Squadron participated in several races including arace withResistancespyKazuda Xiono and thePlatform Classic featuringMarcus Speedstar, one of the greatest racing champions inthe galaxy.[1][23] One of their members and Captain Doza’s daughterTorra got kidnapped by the Warbird gang at the behest of the First Order in return for their triple their usual rate. Her comrades pursued the pirates but the First Order rescued Torra. This forced Captain Doza to consent to the First Order'smilitary occupation of theColossus.[9]
The First Order occupation[]

The Aces are released from imprisonment by Captain Imanuel Doza
After the First Order arrived at theColossus in order to provide security, races were suspended and all starfighters were grounded. Fazon protested and got arrested bystormtroopers. He was able toescapedcaptivity with the help of Xiono and Torra.[22] WhenTeam Colossus led by Xiono deliberately sunk theColossus into the ocean to send a message toGeneralLeia Organa, Ace Squadron scrambled to their stations.[24]
Following the sinking of theColossus,Stormtrooper CommanderPyre ordered the imprisonment of Ace Squadron, deeming them a threat to the First Order when Captain Doza got apprehended for insubordination. However, Torra escaped and joined Xiono.[25] After Team Colossus retook the station, Ace Squadron and Xiono with his friendJarek Yeager participated in a dogfight with First Order starfighters during theColossus'escape from Castilon. They then escaped with theColossus intohyperspace with the intent to join the Resistance.[10]
Station's voyage[]

After escaping the First Order, Ace Squadron joined theColossus cell of the Resistance, continuing to defend the station from the First Order.
Shortly afterward, theColossus' hyperdrive ran out ofcoaxium, stranding it three parsecs nearD'Qar while they ran low on supplies and the First Order continued their quest to capture or destroy the station.[26]
After limping into theIleenium system, the crew discovered the remnants of afierce battle and theResistance base. Xiono hatched a plan to recover coaxium from the wreckage of adreadnought destroyed by the friends of his mentorCommanderPoe Dameron. After Pyre'sStar Destroyer arrived in the system, Ace Squadron was scrambled to defend the salvage team fromTIE fighters. Once the team returned to theColossus and refueled the hyperdrive, Ace Squadron landed back aboard, allowing them to escape back into hyperspace.[11]

Ace Squadron flying in the atmosphere of Celsor 3 attempting to hunt down a jakoosk to feed the residents of theColossus.
Eventually, after theSkirmish over D'Qar, Xiono became their newest member and Yeager became their new Squadron Leader so the others could become good combat pilots. Their first exercise was a disaster, with the two newcomers getting the drop on the Squadron. After Yeager split them into pairs, they learned to act together, saving their new Sauadron Leader after his ship got grabbed by ajakoosk.[4] Following a failed attempt by the Warbird gang to hunt the jakoosk, Kaz, Torra, and his astromech droidCB-23 worked together to do just that, providing enough meat for the residents of theColossus.[12]
After the depot was sabotaged by mercenaryNenavakasa Nalor, Ace Squadron were scrambled to defend it from Pyre's Star Destroyer while the engineering team restored functionality.[13]

Ace Squadron members Torra Doza, Kazuda Xiono, and Freya Fenris undertook a mission to the planet Ashas Rae, where they uncovered a Sith Temple.
Later, Xiono along with fellow Ace pilots Torra and Freya and their droids undertook asupply mission to the planetAshas Ree.Kel andEila stowed aboard Xiono's shuttle. Together with Xiono and CB-23, they explored a localSith temple and rescued an archaeologist namedMika Grey. The group was subsequently captured by a group ofFirst Order Raiders led byAgentRaith but were saved by Grey, who activated a Sith relic that killed them. Grey accompanied the Aces, Kel and Eila back to theColossus.[27]
Later, Doza subsequently took the station to hide in theOuter Rim Territories. As they deployed a beacon at a rendezvous point, Ace Squadron was forced todefend it until they were beaten back, landing back aboard the station to escape.[14]
Continued adventures[]

Ace Squadron was forced to compete in Vranki the Hutt's Voxx Vortex 5000 to raise funds for theColossus.
Seeking to raisecredits for theColossus and growing bored, members of Ace Squadron agreed to race with Hype’s old employer theHutt businessmanVranki'sracing droids. During theVoxx Vortex 5000, the Aces were systematically outmaneuvered by Vranki, who used unscrupulous tactics to win the various legs of the race. In the final leg, Vranki bidded on the entireColossus and the Aces. However, Xiono managed to outwit him with the help of Vozo, who used his technical savvy to beat Vranki's droid algorithms. As a result, Vranki was forced to let Ace Squadron go and gave theColossus half a million credits.[28]

Ace Squadron fought against the Guavian Death Gang in defense of theColossus.
As theColossus continued hiding in the Outer Rim Territories, the station traveled throughGuavian Death Space. Their home gotattacked by the Gang, and when Captain Doza refused to give into their demands, Ace Squadron was scrambled. Using Kaz's guidance, they took out all the attackingfighter ships.[15]
After Xiono, Yeager, San, and CB-23 undertook amission to rescue fellow Resistance spyNorath Kev on the planetVarkana, Ace Squadron led by Torra escorted Xiono's team and Kev offworld. Ace Squadron also fought several TIE fighters. TheColossus then evacuated them offworld.[16]

Ace Squadron members Griff Halloran and Kazuda Xiono were initially captured by the native Aeosians while exporing Aeos Prime.
Later, Ace Squadron explored the ocean planet ofAeos Prime, which Captain Doza intended to establish as theColossus’ new home. Xiono and CB-23 accompanied Griff and his astromech droidR5-G9. While scouting a nearby island, they encountered several indigenousAeosians, who initially reacted with hostility, blaming the offworlders for a recent First Orderattack ontheir village. Meanwhile, Freya and Bo Keevil were involved a dogfight with Aeosians ridingKrakavora. Xiono managed to convince theAeosian Queen that theColossus did not pose a threat by healing one of their members. As a result, the Aeosian Queen ordered her people to stand down and made peace with Captain Doza. She allowed theColossus to stay for as long as they wanted.[29]

Ace Squadron fought against the First Order Navy during the Battle of Aeos Prime, working alongside the native Aeosians to fend off the First Order.
While staying on Aeos Prime, Ace Squadron resumed their races on the ocean planet, which had a similar environment to Castilon. Xiono subsequently departed on theFireball with CB-23 to rendezvous with the Resistance since he could not stay out of the fight because he did not want the First Order to make others lose everything like they did with him during theHosnian Cataclysm. However, he was forced to abandon his plan after encountering aspider probe droid in space, which alerted Commander Pyre andFirst Order Security BureauAgentTierny to their presence. Ace Squadron along with Xiono subsequently took part in abattle with First Order forces, downing several TIE fighters andTIE/se Bombers. With the help of their Aeosian allies, theColossus inhabitants managed to escape intohyperspace.[17]
Joining the Resistance[]

Ace Squadron officially worked alongside the Resistance under Commander Venisa Doza and her Jade Squadron to save Resistance recruits from the First Order on Dantooine.
Following a request for help from Captain Doza's wife and Torra’s mother CommanderVenisa Doza andJade Squadron, Ace Squadron accompanied Jade Squadron on a mission to breach the First Order'sblockade ofDantooine and evacuate three shuttles of Resistance recruits. During the mission, the convoy were attacked by theThunderer and one got destroyed. After the convoy returned to theColossus with the Resistance recruits, Captain Doza let his wife’s forces stay and decided to use theColossus to help the Resistance since he was done running from the fight.[18]

Ace Squadron celebrated their victory at the Battle of Barabesh, where they destroyed the star destroyerThunderer, and with it the detachment of the First Order assigned to hunt theColossus.
Duringing a mission by Xiono, Yeager, and CB-23 torescueTamara Ryvora from the First Order, the lastremnant of theGalactic Empire caught up with theColossus in theBarabesh system. Ace and Jade Squadrons, alongside San, took part in the defense of theColossus, fighting TIE fighters and theThunderer. After CB-23 lowered the Star Destroyer's shields, the two Squadrons blowed up the ship's engines, destroying the vessel. Following the defeat of the First Order’s hunting party, Captain, Doza and the Ace and Jade Squadrons joined the former Squadron’s two members and Ryvora in celebrating her homecoming. Several months later, Ace Squadron and Captain Doza joined aCitizens' Fleet assembled byGeneralLando Calrissian to help the Resistance win thedecisive battle against theSith Eternal'sforces on the planetExegol in theUnknown Regions.[19]
