Acceleration compensators,[1] also known asinertial compensators[2] orinertial dampeners,[3] were devices that manipulatedgravity to compensate for the intense accelerations thatstarships underwent during high-speed maneuvers, thus preventing their occupants from beingkilled by excessive g-forces.[1]
Inertial dampeners helped for a time to protect the remains of theSupremacy, theflagship of theFirst Order, following theResistance vesselRaddus ramming it while enteringhyperspace. Ultimately, however, the vessel was catastrophically damaged, forcing its abandonment.[3]
