Gavyn Sykes was aHumanmalenative ofNaboo who served as alieutenant in theRoyal Naboo Security Forces during theTrade Federation'sinvasion of theplanet in32 BBY. He, alongside his commandingofficer,CaptainKael, organized aresistance group against the Federation'sbattle droidarmy. Allying themselves with the influentialsmugglerBorvo theHutt, Sykes and his comrades performeddaringraids on the enemy territory, liberating a number of Naboo citizens from Federationmining camps. Borvo, however, betrayed the resistance,killing Kael andenslaving the Naboo people. Sykesavenged his fallen superior, liberating the Naboo and forcing Borvo to retreat toNal Hutta. After Kael's death, Sykes briefly assumed a leadership position in his resistance cell and performed asuccessful raid on the FederationCamp Four, freeing itsprisoners.
Sykes later played a crucial role inQueenPadmé Amidala's effort to retake the planet. He participated in thediversionary assault on the occupiedcapitalcity ofTheed and later joined thespace battle over Naboo as a member ofBravo Squadron, single-handedly taking downtractor beam generators anddeflector shields protecting one of thehangar arms of thedroid control ship. This allowed the youngForce-sensitiveAnakin Skywalker to fly hisstarfighter into theship's inner structure and destroy it from within, thus deactivating the Federation's battledroids on the planet. Sykes continued to serve the Royal Naboo Security Forces for many moreyears, becoming a captain during theClone Wars. During theGalactic Civil War, Sykes was assigned to the smuggling patrol, serving as a watchman in the city ofKeren, while his nemesis, Borvo, returned to Naboo and settled inMoenia.
