March 4, starwars.fandom.com—Twenty years ago,Star Wars fans were eagerly awaiting theREVENGE OF THE SITH, exploring the depths ofNar Shaddaa in theKNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II, and beginning to buildWOOKIEEPEDIA—theStar Wars wiki. As an ever-growing community of volunteers, the Wookieepedia project now celebrates its 20th year.
Our encyclopedia officially reached200,000 articles in February, 2025. This was only possible with the work of hundreds upon hundreds of fans over the past twenty years. Most Wookieepedians started off editing with little to no writing or coding experience, but our efforts have brought us closer to the goal of creating the most accurate, comprehensive, and well-presented resource about all thingsStar Wars.
Since Wookieepedia'stenth anniversary in 2015, we have expanded thebreadth, depth, and quality of our documentation of both theStar Wars Legends and the newcanon continuities, as well as coverage ofStar Wars media and production behind the scenes. Wookieepedia has also been buildinga more friendly and welcoming community. Informed by our contributors' experiences, we have launched ongoing efforts in revamping ourpolicies to be clearer and more fair, improving accessibility, and developing newediting tutorials.
Since 2015, editor recruitment has advanced on Wookieepedia, with the great majority of the currentadministrators andreview board members having joined those groups in recent years. The past ten years has also seen the progress of theDiscussions forum and the launch of twenty-two new collaborativeWookieeProjects. These include theProject Stardust initiative focusing on essential topics andProject Pride's efforts to improve the wiki's coverage of LGBTQIA+ topics. Most external links on Wookieepedia now havebackup archival links to keep a better record of the ever-changing Internet, andbot systems have automated many monotonous site maintenance tasks such as page archivals for thestatus article peer review system.
Our work continues unabated. Thousands more pagesneed to be created, lack citations, await expansion, and could usemore images. All the while, the franchise continues to grow andrequire updates. As we enter our third decade, we would love for more readers tojoin our ranks! May the Force be with us in the next twenty years… ✨

X2 was aForce-sensitiveclone trooper secretly created by theKaminoans prior to theoutbreak of theClone Wars.Cloned from theDNA sample of theJedi KnightFalon Grey, X2 participated in the war, fighting for theGalactic Republic alongside his brotherX1, created from the same genetic sample. The two fought in many battles of the Clone Wars, earning the reputation of valuable and skilledsoldiers. During the final days of the war, X2 participated in theBattle of Cato Neimoidia, where he was ordered tokill hiscommander,Jedi MasterFerroda, whenOrder 66 was issued bySupreme ChancellorPalpatine. X2 complied, killed Ferroda, and entered the ranks of thestormtroopers, serving thenewly formedGalactic Empire; however, he, unlike X1, was uncertain about this choice. Aftermonths of service to theNew Order, X2's doubts intensified greatly during anattack tokill a fugitive Jedi taking shelter among simple villagers on theplanetDantooine. After learning that X1 was planning to kill innocent people who were hiding theJedi, X2 defected from the Empire.
Siding with the Jedi—who turned out to be his "father," Falon Grey—he tried to help the civilians get off-planet, but X1 caught up with them and killed everyone except X2, who survived only because Grey managed toForce-heal him before dying himself. X2 spent the following fifteenyears on Dantooine working as a simplefarmer until he was discovered by Grey's former Master,Rahm Kota, and was recruited by him into theAlliance to Restore the Republic. Soon after becoming a member of the Rebellion, X2rescued acaptured group of Rebels on the planetGeonosis, and they pledged their allegiance to him. On Kota's advice, X2 assembled the men into amilitary unit, christening itGrey Squadron in honor of Falon Grey. X2 and his men proved to be a valuable asset to the Rebellion, participating in many engagements throughout theGalactic Civil War, including the crucialBattles of Yavin,Hoth—during which X2 faced off against X1, who was still serving the Empire—andEndor. During thistime, X2 also began to explore hisForce-sensitivity, guided by Rebel JediLuke Skywalker.
After the Battle ofEndor and the death ofEmperor Palpatine, X2 was elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight by Skywalker and was given alightsaber by him. Knowing that X1 was still roamingthe galaxy, trying to rebuild the Empire—which had become fragmented in the aftermath of Palpatine's death—X2 vowed to find and stop him. Eventually, X2 tracked his brother down to the planetMustafar, where the latter clone, having captured Skywalker, planned to create anarmy of Force-sensitive clones from Skywalker's DNA. X2faced off against X1 and defeated him in alightsaber duel, though he refused to kill him. In response, X1 tried to kill X2 with his lightsaber bymanipulating it with the Force, but X2 quickly reacted and jumped out of the way of the lightsaber, leaving X1 to bestabbed by his own weapon and to fall into the fierylava below. After the battle, the rescued Skywalker promoted X2 to Jedi Master.(Read more…)Below are some of the current community projects happening around Wookieepedia.
