Twenty years ago today,Star Wars fans were eagerly awaiting theREVENGE OF THE SITH, exploring the depths ofNar Shaddaa in theKNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II, and beginning to buildWOOKIEEPEDIA—theStar Wars wiki. As an ever-growing community of volunteers, the Wookieepedia project now celebrates its 20th year.
Our encyclopedia officially reached200,000 articles last month. This was only possible with the work of hundreds upon hundreds of fans over the past twenty years. Most Wookieepedians started off editing with little to no writing or coding experience, but our efforts have brought us closer to the goal of creating the most accurate, comprehensive, and well-presented resource about all thingsStar Wars.
Since Wookieepedia'stenth anniversary in 2015, we have expanded thebreadth, depth, and quality of our documentation of both theStar Wars Legends and the newcanon continuities, as well as coverage ofStar Wars media and production behind the scenes. Wookieepedia has also been buildinga more friendly and welcoming community. Informed by our contributors' experiences, we have launched ongoing efforts in revamping ourpolicies to be clearer and more fair, improving accessibility, and developing newediting tutorials.
Since 2015, editor recruitment has advanced on Wookieepedia, with the great majority of the currentadministrators andreview board members having joined those groups in recent years. The past ten years has also seen the progress of theDiscussions forum and the launch of twenty-two new collaborativeWookieeProjects. These include theProject Stardust initiative focusing on essential topics andProject Pride's efforts to improve the wiki's coverage of LGBTQIA+ topics. Most external links on Wookieepedia now havebackup archival links to keep a better record of the ever-changing Internet, andbot systems have automated many monotonous site maintenance tasks such as page archivals for thestatus article peer review system.
Our work continues unabated. Thousands more pagesneed to be created, lack citations, await expansion, and could usemore images. All the while, the franchise continues to grow andrequire updates. As we enter our third decade, we would love for more readers tojoin our ranks! May the Force be with us in the next twenty years… ✨

The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi
The final confrontation between the Jedi and the Nihil…

Rukil was aHumanmale who lived in anOutcast village, located in theUndercity of theplanetTaris, from around theyear4056 BBY up until thetime of theJedi Civil War. By this time, he had lived a large portion of his life in the village as anOutcast. Rukil was condemned to live forever in the bedrock levels of theecumenopolis with hisfather andgrandfather sometime around 4056 BBY because of their part in arebellion against the wealthynobles that ruled Taris. There, Rukil'sfather and grandfather began searching for thePromised Land, a rumored paradise underneath the Undercity withdroids to care for all of their needs. After both his father and grandfather disappeared, Rukil continued the quest of searching for the fabled paradise so that he could lead his fellow Outcasts to a better life. As the years went by, however, fewer of the Outcasts believed his tales of the Promised Land. By the time the village was being led by a male Human namedGendar around the year3956 BBY, Rukil's apprentice,Malya, was the only one who truly believed him. She continued his field work because he was too old to do it himself. By this date, Rukil was over a hundred years old and was referred to by the younger Outcasts as "Rukil Wrinkle-Skin."
Around this time, Malya went missing while searching for the Promised Land. After she had been missing for some time, Rukil asked the amnesiac formerSith LordRevan for help in finding his lost apprentice during Revan's search for theJediBastila Shan. Revan and Shan eventually located Malya's corpse and brought back herjournal, which had recorded her findings, to Rukil. After deciding that Revan was trustworthy, Rukil told him of the history of the Outcasts as well as his search for the Promised Land. Rukil then requested that Revan search for the journals of his father and grandfather and bring them back to him. Revan did as Rukil asked, and Rukil was able to discover the location of the Promised Land. Rukil showed the evidence to Gendar, who finally believed Rukil and set out to prepare the Outcasts for the long journey. After telling Gendar the information, Rukil gave Revan his thanks and a final farewell before the Outcasts departed for the Promised Land.
Eventually, the Outcasts reached the Promised Land, but soon after they arrived, Taris wasbombarded by theSith Empire, who were attempting tokill Bastila Shan before she could escape. Rukil and the Outcasts survived, but the bombardment destroyed all of the buildings and generators on Taris leaving them without equipment. However, Rukil was glad that thePromised Ones, which the Outcasts had named themselves after reaching the Promised Land, survived even though they needed to start over. During his time in the Promised Land, Rukil served his people as the firstkeeper of memories and madeholorecordings of speaking of the Promised Ones' efforts. Some time later, Rukil died and a woman namedBaral replaced Rukil as the keeper of memories.(Read more…)Below are some of the current community projects happening around Wookieepedia.
