Nahdonnis Praji was aHumanmaleborn to the wealthyHouse Praji on theplanetCoruscant during the waningyears of theGalactic Republic. Sometime around the year19 BBY, Praji joined the newlyformedGalactic Empire'snavy and became an honored graduate of theImperial Academy on the planetCarida. He participated in various Imperial campaigns, such as thesubjugation of Almak. During theGalactic Civil War, Praji ledtroops againstRebel cells in the battles ofDatar andNar Shaddaa. Because of his actions, Praji becameLordDarth Vader'saide aboard theImperial Star DestroyerDevastator. In0 BBY, after the Rebels acquired theplans of theDeath Starsuperweapon, theDevastator chased theAlderaanianCR90 corvetteTantive IV, ImperialSenatorLeia Organa'sconsular ship, to the planetTatooine. When thestarship wascaptured and boarded over the planet, thestormtroopers quickly secured the ship, and Praji hastened to the maincomputer room to search for the stolen plans.
However, the plans were copied into thememory banks of theastromech droidR2-D2 who, accompanied by hiscounterpart, theprotocol droidC-3PO, left thecorvette in anescape pod which crash landed on Tatooine. Praji reported to Vader that an escape pod had been jettisoned from the ship during the battle, but that no lifeforms had been detected aboard the pod. Vader ordered Praji to personally search for the plans on the surface of Tatooine, but he took the orders lightly and delegated the mission to his subordinates. He orderedCaptainKosh's localgarrison, CaptainTerrik'sDesert Sands, and Vader's501st Legion to search for the escape pod. Thespaceports on the planet were quarantined, but with the help ofCorelliansmugglerHan Solo,moisture farmerLuke Skywalker andJedi MasterObi-Wan Kenobi, the twodroids evaded theblockades and escaped intohyperspace aboard Solo'sfreighter, heading toAlderaan, thehomeworld of Senator Organa. After theBattle of Endorfour years later, Praji joined the forces of several Imperialwarlords, and eventually served under theresurrectedGalactic Emperor, HisImmortal MajestyPalpatine.
