Bestine IV was awater-coveredplanet located in theInner Rim Territories'Bestine system. One of the key members of theGalactic Republic by thetime of theHigh Republic Era, it served primarily as anagricultural world, hostingstarship manufacturing facilities as well. Bestine was also part of alommiteoreshipping route that connected the planetEriadu to theCore Worlds. During therise of theSeparatist Alliance, the SeparatistleaderCountDooku expressed threats to the security of the lommite shipping route via Bestine to Eriadu'sgovernor,Wilhuff Tarkin.
Bestine IV remained loyal to the Republic during theClone Wars against the Separatists, hosting aRepublic Navyfleet. After the warended with the Separatists' defeat, the Republicbecame theGalactic Empire and brutally annexed Bestine. The new government built anaval shipyard on the local island ofJahnae to help quell potential rebellions in the Inner Rim. The new base was unpopular with the locals and forced many, including themerchantJek Porkins, to leave. During theGalactic Civil War, in3 ABY, theRebel Alliance'sTwenty-Firsttraveled to Bestine as part of a coordinated rebel effort.
In Bestine IV'sBsellis City,SergeantMey Kilrow of the localBestine Security Force kept a protection deal with the planet's most ruthless gang, theNova Razors. A warrior visited theneighborhood where the gang operated andattacked itsheadquarters, defeating thegang leader and many of his thugs. Learning of Kilrow's corruption, the warrior then sought to end it.
Between 3ABY and4 ABY, the criminal syndicateCrimson Dawnhired acrew ofbounty hunters led byT'onga to helpinsurgents on Bestine IV stop an Imperialmunitions shipment. The Empire learned of the syndicate's plan, and ateam led by thecyborgmercenaryBeilert Valance was sent to set a trap for the attackers. The trap was sprung during the attack, and Valance and T'onga, two old allies, found themselves in a confrontation. There, T'onga revealed to Valance that the people the latter was working with the Empire to protect had already been taken orkilled.
Angered about being lied to by the Empire, Valance killed the Imperial shipment'sshoretrooper security force and had thetransport fly into the base on Jahnae, destroying it. Valance used the base's destruction as bait for theSith LordDarth Vader, who arrived on the planet to confront the mercenary. The two fought, with Vader ultimately defeating Valance, andTIE/sa bombersbombed thevillage on Jahnae. ImperialLieutenantJyala Haydenn then shot the mercenary, sending him dropping off a cliff.
