Q101 95Q 106.9 The Buzz 95.1 Miss 101 Meridian

Following the closing of a sale that saw three stations spun off to other operators and one station donated, the repercussions are starting to be felt in Meridian, MS.

Mississippi Broadcasters LLC, who already owned four stations in the market, purchased the five station cluster owned by Clear Channel and operated by URBan Radio for $1.1 Million. In order to fit under market caps, 95.1 WJDQ and 104.1 WZKS were then sold to New South Communications for $350K. 93.5 WMLV was sold to EMF Broadcasting for $175K and 106.9 WKZB was donated to Meridian Community College.

The formats are shuffling all over the place with the ownership changes.

101.3 WMSO has dropped its Country “Miss 101” format for Adult CHR “Q101” merging the programming previously heard on 95.1 WJDQ as “95Q” and “V93.5” WMLV. The “Q101” name and WJDQ calls have heritage on the 101.3 frequency; residing there from 1995 to 2006 before being moved to 95.1.

93.5 WMLV has temporarily gone dark. When it returns it will pick up EMF’s Christian AC “K-Love” programming.

95.1 has assumed the Classic Hits programming of 106.9 WKZB as “95.1 The Buzz“.

106.9 is temporarily simulcasting 95.1 as its programming moves over to the new location.

Urban “Hot 97.9” WHTU has flipped to Classic Country.

With all said and done, Mississippi Broadcasters owns Gospel 1450 WYHL, Country97.1 WOKK, CHR “Q101” WMSO, Urban AC “Kiss 104.1” WZKS, and Urban “105.7 The Beat” WJXM.

New South adds Classic Hits “95.1 The Zone” WJDQ and Classic Country 97.9 WHTU to its News/Talk simulcast of 910/102.1 WALT.

I have been trying to listen via internet to WJDQ – even though there is a listen live button on their site, there is nothing. Do you believe their will be the option of listening via internet?
    Thanks.
