DQVIII Gets Slimy
Hori to release special controller alongside upcoming Japanese blockbuster.
If you remember the amazing work Hori did with theFinal Fantasy X-2 "Twin Bee" gun controller, you probably know what to expect from this thing. That's right, the slime controller is shaped and painted to resemble a Slime. That means pointy head, flat bottom and blue all over. When not in use, the controller can be inverted and kept in your room as a monument to your love ofDragon Quest. Best of all, the controller's cable can be detached, so you won't have any ugly wires coming out of your Slime when it's on display.
Although shaped like a Slime, theDragon Quest Slime Controller has all the functionality of a Dual Shock. The only differences seem to be that the face buttons are now on a somewhat curved surface and the analogue triggers have been pushed in a bit. It will work fine with all games that use the Dual Shock.
Pricing on the Slime Controller is set at 3,129 yen, which isn't too far removed from a standard Dual Shock. We'll see for ourselves how comfortable the controller is on 11/27, as you can bet we'll pick up a few to go along with the game (you can actually buy three of the controllers for about the same cost asDQVIII itself).
