Thua G. Barlay, an attorney with Barlay Law Group LLC, has been named one of ten recipients statewide of the 17th Annual Justice Robert Benham Awards for Community Service. The award will be presented at a special ceremony at the State Bar of Georgia on February 23.
The community service awards are co-sponsored by the State Bar of Georgia and the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism. Since 1998, these awards have been presented to honor lawyers and judges in Georgia who have made significant contributions to their communities and demonstrate the positive contributions of members of the bar beyond their legal or official work.
Barlay is a member of the board of directors of the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and served as its chairman in 2013. He is also on the board of the Conyers-Rockdale Economic Development Council, Children’s Museum of Atlanta, and Family Promise of New Rock, Inc.
“I would like to personally thank Attorney Garland “Gary” Moore for nominating me. I am happy to follow in the footsteps of State Court Judge Nancy Bills, as the second person from Rockdale to receive the award. I am especially proud of this recognition because it highlights the efforts that we community stakeholders do here in the Conyers and Rockdale County area,” says Barlay.
