MAGISTERIAL DISTRICTS.

We are enabled to furnish some particulars
of the population in the different centres
of the colony at the end of 1897. The
figures are only approximate. The
returns have not been so complelete
as could be desired, but notwith-
standing this the information furnished
is sufficiently interesting - to warrant it
being reproduced. The figures below will
give this information, and it may be stated
that of each group the first represent
males, the second females, and the third
totals:
