Life Members At
Carlton
Messrs Vin Gardiner, Cliff
Cox, Alan Jinks, and Jack Hale
were elected life members at the
annual meeting of the Carlton
Cricket Club last night. All
have given 20 years or more of
service to the club.
There were 10 nominations for
nine places on the committee.
All the retiring members were
re-elected.
In the annual report it was
stated that Jim Baird had won
the club championship, with
Alan Jinks, Bert Numa, and Ted
Besford next in that order.
Although the financial position
of the club was strong, the
unaccountable decline in mem-
bership figures during the last
two years was disquieting. The
enforced increase in member-
ship fees might have been
partly responsible for the drift,
but it was felt that it would
have been onset by successes
gained by the club and the
many privileges available to
ticket-holders. With .assets
amounting to £ 1,700, the finan-
cial position has never been bet-
ter.
