Mon 9 Oct 1899 - The Mercury (Hobart, Tas. : 1860 - 1954)
Page 2 - OUTLAW KELLY.
OUTLAW KELLY.
This evening the last piece of the season
will be staged, namely, Lancelot Booth's
romantic and picturesque melodrama en-
titled Outlaw Kelly, founded on
the startling incidents connected with
the notorious band of bushranging
desperadoes who set law and order at
defiance in the North-Eastern districts of
Victoria from November, 1878, till
October 1880. This is decidedly the
most talked of play, in the Henry Dramatic
Company' s repertoire, and is said to be a
true record ot the daring exploits of the
Kelly gang of bushrangers. The chief
scenes will be the Kelly's home at Greta,
the bank at Euroa, the Strathbogie
Ranges, Aaron Sheritt's hut, Jones's
Hotel, Glenrowan, and the tragic end of
the notorious Ned Kelly in his armour.
The cast is a lengthy one, and everything
possible to make the production a success
will be done. The performance of this
play in Sydney was the talk of the city,
and in Launceston recently it was staged
for extra nights to give the public an
opportunity of witnessing the dramatic
boom of 1899. Box plan is on view at
Walch's, and early door and day sale
tickets at Nettlefold's.
