Officium Sancti Spiritus
The Office of the Holy Spirit
Domine labia mea aperies.
Thou O Lord wilt open my lips.
Et os meum annunciabit laudem tuam.
And my mouth shall declare thy praise.
Deus in adiutorium meum intende.
Incline unto my aid O God.
Domine ad adiuvandum me festina.
O Lord make haste to help me.
Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto.
Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper: et in saecula saeculorum. Amen. Alleluia.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
Even as it was in the beginning, and now, and ever: and world without end. Amen. Alleluia.
Nobis sancti Spiritus gratia sit data,
De qua virgo virginum fuit obumbrata,
Cum per sanctum Angelum fuit salutata,
Verbum caro factum est, virgo foecundata.
The grace of the Holy Ghost free unto us befall:
Wherewith was overshadowed the maid of maidens all.
When the angel Gabriel his salutation said,
The Word itself flesh became and virgin fruitful made.
Veni sancte spiritus, reple tuorum corda fidelium: et tui amoris in eis ignem accende.
Come O Holy Ghost, replenish the hearts of thy faithful: and kindle in them the fire of thy love.
Emitte spiritum tuum, et creabuntur.
Send forth thy spirit, and they shall be created.
Et renovabis faciem terrae.
And thou shalt renew the face of the earth.
Adsit nobis, quaesumus Domine, virtus spiritus sancti: quae et corda nostra clementer expurget, et ab omnibus tueatur adversis. Per Dominum nostrum Iesum Christum filium tuum: Qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitate spiritus sancti Deus, per omnia saecula saeculorum.
We beseech thee O Lord, that the virtue of the Holy Spirit may be present unto us: the which may mildly both purge our hearts, and also defend us from all adversities, through our Lord Jesus Christ thy Son: Who liveth and reigneth, God, with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end.
