Overdot


An "overdot" is a raiseddot appearing above a symbol most commonly used in mathematics to indicate aderivative taken with respect to time (e.g.,x^.=dx/dt). The expressiona^. is voiced "a dot," and was Newton's notation for derivatives (which he called "fluxions").
