—The Eventuality (Eddie Brock)[source]Fromhere, I can see thewhole map--the wholemaze. Somany choices you make from here,Eddie. So manypaths...and every single one of them leads tome.
AfterEddie Brock became theKing in Black,[4] he became dislodged in time and split into many time-displaced offshoots of himself, such as Finnegan,Bedlam, Wilde,Tyro, andMeridius.[3] TheEventuality is Eddie's final self, who supervises his past selves in theUn-Beyond.[5] As a multiversal presence, the Eventuality is an amalgamation of everyEddie Brock that became and stayed asVenom.[2]
History
Origin[]

All paths lead to the Eventuality
AsEddie Brock and hisvariants travel through time as theKing in Black, their timelines will branch many times over. Most branches will continue to perform the King in Black's work to maintain the universe from within, though some likeMeridius unsuccessfully attempt to escape their responsibilities. Most of these variants and branches will work for longer than the lifespan of the universe before retiring to theUn-Beyond, where they converge and become the Eventuality. The Eventuality supervises and occasionally intervenes to stop his past selves from becoming as destructive asKnull.[5][2]
Visitors[]

Revealing himself to Eddie
When the 'prime' Eddie arrived in the Un-Beyond following his defeat inLimbo, the Eventuality greeted him.[6] The Eventuality answered five of Eddie's questions, informing him of the status of his sonDylan, explaining the nature of the King in Black, telling Eddie that he became the King in Black because someone had to, revealing his identity as Eddie's ultimate future self, and telling Eddie that he had complete control over any body he inhabited, including his charred corpse. Explaining that his current duty is to supervise his past selves so that a new Knull doesn't arise, the Eventuality noted that once theEighth Cosmos ends he might take up Knull's role in theNinth Cosmos in order to find and test his replacement.[5]
When Tyro fails to warn Meridius about branching timelines and possibility of a seventh Eddie, he decides to take destiny into his own hands and travel deep into theSymbiote Hive-Mind. Eventuality greets him there and informs him about his fate, which motivates Tyro to do everything he can to evade it and leads him to becoming Meridius.[7]
AfterCarnage killedDylan Brock it pursued his soul into the depths of theSymbiote Hive in an attempt to find Eddie, catching a glimpse of the Eventuality. Carnage attempted to pursue the Eventuality, but ended up manifesting itself far into the future, within theGarden of Time, bursting through the chest ofMeridius's temporal duplicate and absorbing his powers.[8] Appearing before Dylan, the Eventuality gave him the same choice of five questions he gave Eddie, and when asked what would happen if Eddie were to reunite with the Venom symbiote he showed Dylan a vision of the possible future he outlined to Eddie.[1]

Carnage, the King in Crimson
Sometime later, a visitor arrived in the Un-Beyond and the Eventuality as per usual gave them five questions. Asked "What if Eddie Brock wasn't Venom?", the Eventuality showing the visitor areality whereHarry Osborn bonded to theVenom symbiote and encounteredKnull ofEarth-616. The Eventuality decided to answer "What if nobody was Venom?" for free to make up for trying to bait the visitor into wasting a question, and showed analternate reality where theAvengers were picked off one-by-one by a starvingVenom symbiote until only theHulk,Hawkeye, andBlack Widow were left.[2] Asked if Venom has a limit, the Eventuality replied that it doesn't. To elaborate, the Eventuality showed the visitor aVenom from the 9th century who killed a very importantNorse king, resulting in numerous historical changes occurring; a reality in which a version ofCaptain America got thesymbiote and recruitedVenom to play an inter-dimensional basketball game with aVenom-possessedThanos, aVenom-possessedKang, and aVenom-possessed apotheosizedCarnage Symbiote; anda reality in which theVenom symbiote had traversed time and space trying to save organic life from being assimilated by artificial superintelligences called theGodmind, ultimately sacrificing itself to create a pocket universe where organic life could live in peace. Noting that the Godmind had hacked that universe to render it inaccessible from the rest of the Multiverse, the Eventuality was called out on having lied when he stated that every Eddie Brock who became Venom led to him, as theEddie Brock of the reality he'd just shown had died. Revealing that there might be other things he'd bent the truth about, the Eventuality told the visitor to ask their next question and find out.[9] Showing the visitor different universes in response to their questions, the Eventuality was disappointed that they were getting sidetracked and asking the variations of the same question over and over, but figured out that they were seeking to recruit powerful incarnations of Venom to oppose the apotheosizedCarnage, theKing in Crimson.[10]
Possible Future[]

As the Anti-All in the Ninth Cosmos
In a possible outcome for theNinth Cosmos, the Eventuality will be renewed by the cosmic void when theEighth Cosmos ends and the new begins to met a newKing in Black.[5] Taking the mantle of theAnti-All, Eddie will rampage across the universe in order to find and test a worthy successor to the role of King in Black, declaring his intent to destroy the Ninth Cosmos should none arise.[1]
Personality
Attributes
Powers
As the future self ofEddie Brock andMeridius, the Eventuality possesses the powers of aKing in Black.[5] As a multiversal presence, is the result ofEddie Brock from across theMultiverse living and stayingVenom long enough for all their roads to lead to the Eventuality.[11] In the same way, the Eventuality can feel missing versions of himself, as he was able to sense the absence ofThe Illuminated fromEarth-62466.[12]
- Symbiote Domination: The Eventuality can inhabitsymbiote flesh and shape it however he wishes.
- Symbiote Physiology: Existing as a codex in the symbiote hive mind, the Eventuality's bodies are formed out of their substance and give him their innate abilities.
- Cosmic Awareness: As a multiversal presence, the Eventuality can observe different realities in theMultiverse, usually those related to theVenom symbiote and othersymbiotes.[13]
- Interdimensional Teleportation: The Eventuality can physicallytravel to other realities.[14]
Notes
- The Eventually suggests that, in thenext iteration of the cosmos, he may become the next "bad guy" likeKnull for his replacement, the nextKing in Black, to overcome;[5] which he shows a glimpse of toDylan Brock inFree Comic Book Day 2024: Ultimate Universe/Spider-Man #1.
- According to the Eventuality, even ifEddie loses the power of the King in Black, he will regain it later. One way or another, possibly hundreds of different ways or more, Eddie will always become the Eventuality in the end.[5]
Trivia
- Doctor Strange once invoked the "Onyx King" in a spell that prevents combatants from using external sources of power, such as magic or theEternity Mask, for 30 seconds.[15]
- The Eventuality taking the form of Venom's left hand could be a reference to Eddie severing his left hand during the events of "Venom Island",[16] while the added candle fire at his fingertips makes it resemble theHand of Glory.
- This could also reference theLeft Hand Path in esoterism, in opposition to theRight Hand Path, two different self-complementarian approaches into magic; this is seen given the way it talks to the 'prime' Eddie as a form of initiation and his "sacrifice of Ego".[17]
- The Eventuality is aware thatEarth-1048 is a universe where video games take place.[2]
