Events and Announcements

  • Please join us on Friday, March 28, from 2-3:30 p.m. for a virtual event featuring Andrew Janiak, PhD, and Liz Milewicz on "Reforming Philosophy through Collaboration" as part of Falvey Library's Digital Seeds Speakers Series.Philosophy began as conversations and collaborations, between men and women, through writing and in person, at a time when there were no hard definitions of what philosophy was or who counted as a philosopher. Yet the voices of many of the influential figures in these philosophical conversations disappeared when philosophy’s canon was constructed. Project Vox has spent the last ten years publishing information about these overlooked voices in philosophy’s past. As a collaboration between Duke University’s libraries and its philosophy department, across disciplines and academic ranks, this project has developed an ethos of listening to different voices and perspectives and finding ways to pair new ideas with existing practice. This ACS-approved event is sponsored by Falvey Library.
