A photographic film adaptation of Yaguchi Takao's best selling comic by director Takita Yojiro, who came to the world's attention when hisDepartures(Okuribito) won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The film's dynamic fishing scenes fuse the beautiful scenery of a Japanese mountain village with VFX effects from a renowned special effects team Shirogumi. Although still only 13, Sanpei (Suga Kenta) is an expert fisherman with the knowledge and technique to match that of any adult. He hears of a local legend of a huge fish from Ayukawa (Tsukamoto Takashi), a professional fisherman who is active in the United States.
