Description[]
The Scriptorium was hidden behind several layers of puzzles, including a door that requiredParseltongue to pass, various doors locked withSlytherin Locks which would strike the user if they answered incorrectly, and a door that required the usage of theCruciatus Curse to pass. If one did not have somebody to perform thecurse on, they could possiblydie from starvation within the chamber.[1]
The Scriptorium itself was a small study containingSalazar Slytherin's personal property, such asSlytherin's Spellbook and adiary entry that described Slytherin's discord with fellowHogwarts founderGodric Gryffindor over the ability ofMuggle-borns to studymagic. The diary entry also described the existence of theChamber of Secrets, theSerpent of Slytherin, and Slytherin's desire for adescendant who shared his views to purge the school of those "unworthy" of studying magic. It also contained a statue of Slytherin’s head, much like the one found inside the Chamber of Secrets.[1]
History[]
