Oculus Reparo[1][2] was theincantation of acharm that repaired brokeneyeglasses. It was avariant of theMending Charm.
History[]
Arthur Weasley used thisspell inDiagon Alley in1992 to repairHarry Potter'sspectacles after Harry broke them when tumbling out of theFloo Network connected to the fireplace inBorgin and Burkes respectively.[3]

Etymology[]
The wordreparo is the first person singular form of the first conjugation verb (-are)reparare, meaning "to renew" or "to revive" in Latin. The wordoculus is the nominative singular form of the word meaning "eye". Thus, the spellOculus Reparoroughly means "I renew the eye". Unfortunately, from a grammatical point of view, this statement is incorrect, because although it follows the common SOV word order, the wordoculus is in the nominative singular case, when it should beaccusative singular, as it is the object of the sentence.
Note: in Brazilian Portuguese "óculos" [ˈɔ.ku.lʊs] means glasses.
