Biography[]

A portrait of a younger Professor Mordicus Egg
Egg was born prior to1963 and eventually became aProfessor[1] and laterHeadmaster atHogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in his older years.[3] His name was carved into the wall of theDivination Classroom in theNorth Tower.[5]
In the winter of1993 he was seen on theMarauder's Map,[6] meaning he was either alive and visiting the school by then, or he had returned as a ghost. If he was alive, he likely died soon after this, as his portrait appeared in theHeadmaster's office at Hogwarts that same year.[3]
After theBattle of Hogwarts, he was most likely among those who congratulatedHarry Potter on his defeat ofLord Voldemort, along with the otherheadteachers of Hogwarts.[7]
