Magical Drafts and Potions, sometimes sold asMagical Draughts and Potions,[2] was a book written byArsenius Jigger containing information on how to brew a number ofpotions. It was used as a textbook atHogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry forPotions class.[1] A copy of this book cost twoGalleons atFlourish and Blotts inDiagon Alley.[3]

This book was one of the required textbooks for students entering theirfirst year atHogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[1]
During the1995–1996 school year at Hogwarts,Severus Snape set anessay on the properties ofmoonstone.Hermione Granger recommended thatHarry Potter andRonald Weasley useMagical Drafts and Potions to look up information on this essay, informing them that she had already lent her copy toPadma Patil. Unwilling to attempt to find the book in thelibrary, Harry and Ron went to find Padma. She agreed to turn over the book if Harry assisted her with herTransfigurationhomework.[4]
